00:00How do you feel celebrating the Latino community?
00:06I enjoy celebrating the Latino community every day, but when you have an organization like
00:11Nalip that started with 13 humans that just decided to make breaking boundaries their
00:18mission, still here this much bigger 25 years later, it's a big deal.
00:23So I'm here to amplify that, help amplify that, see where the torch is being passed
00:28so we can pick it up and keep it going.
00:31Tell me about your next project.
00:33My next project, let's see, well I just finished shooting a pilot with Ty Burrell and ABC,
00:40multi-cam directed by the greatest of all time, James Burroughs, and Christopher Lloyd
00:47from the Modern Family pedigree, and we just did this multi-cam that hopefully will get
00:53picked up and keep going.
00:55So just finished that, and then of course in this last year I launched, I'm the co-founder
00:59of Latinas Acting Up with Lisa Vidal, and we see the changes that are needed in our
01:06community of Latinas in the industry, in front of and behind the camera, so we're going to
01:10continue to build that platform.
01:12Any fun plans for summer?
01:15Oh my gosh, this summer.
01:18So much is happening with Latinas Acting Up that it's become my second full-time job,
01:23and there's a lot of planning, but I'll tell you what, I am having a birthday this summer
01:27and I decided to go big, like Studio 54 big, minus the debauchery.
01:36We'll keep it PG.
01:37We'll keep it PG.
01:38So I'm going to do that.
01:39That's a big plan this summer.
01:40I mean, we have an event going, and I'm scared to do it, but everyone's like, do it.
01:46Celebrate yourself.
01:47So I'm going to do that.
01:48Why Hollywood needs more Latinos?
01:52Because we are a majority.
01:54We are a representative majority in this country, on this planet.
01:59We have talent.
02:01We have beautiful stories to tell.
02:03We're not here just to tell the stories that are ours.
02:08We're artists.
02:09We're creatives.
02:10We're actors, writers, directors, performers, so we want to tell all the stories.
02:14It's like I say, I'm joking, but I'm not.
02:16I want to be a zombie.
02:17I've never been a zombie, but I would like to play a zombie.
02:19I want to be on a sword.
02:21I'm a horse with a sword and armor.
02:23I have never been on, but I want to do it.
02:25That's why it's creative.
02:26We want to dive into those imaginary worlds.
02:28There is a range, a wide range of talent in the Latino community that they haven't tapped
02:33into yet.
02:34And then on top of all that, we are filled with unbelievable stories of heroes, of characters,
02:40delicious characters that the world isn't familiar with.
02:44So we have lots to share.
02:46Thank you so much.
02:48Thank you.
02:49Thank you for having me.
02:50Happy birthday.
