00:00My name is Suzanne Wills, I'm a CAC and I'm a small vendor here at Waterloo Emporium.

00:08My name is Katie Kate Green, I'm the Head of Retail. I oversee the 17 shops in front of the two houses.

00:15I'm the Director of Finance and I manage the facilities.

00:19Jess, what are we doing here today?

00:22To generate more income for hospice.

00:25So for us it's just incorporating more products into it.

00:28It used to be a furniture shop, which has done very, very well.

00:32It's profitable for the hospice.

00:34But we wanted to just add something slightly different into it,

00:37to see if we could generate more income for the hospice.

00:40And I think we've done it.

00:42So we've decided to turn it into an emporium.

00:44Jess, what are the main changes that are getting placed?

00:47The main changes, we've still got the furniture,

00:50but we've decided to incorporate more homework stuff,

00:53craft, because we're doing vintage.

00:56We've noticed that most craft shops sell these products,

00:59and they're very popular.

01:01So there's nothing else like it in costume.

01:03So we thought that we would, yeah.

01:06And this will be quite a flagship store,

01:09because we've just got hospices just up over the hill.

01:11So it's lovely for us.

01:13How important are these type of shops to Rowley's and to raising money in that way?

01:20These are so important to us,

01:22especially in the climate, to generate as much income as we can.

01:25And these shops, they are popular,

01:28but we would like them to innovate, of course,

01:30because we don't have a lot of people that come to our hospice.

01:33We need people to come and support us.

01:35We need people to come and purchase from the shops.

01:38Yeah.

01:40So you seem to be quite busy already.

01:42So what's the response been?

01:44Have you been closed for a while to arrange this?

01:47We've been closed for three days.

01:50We've been kind of advertising it for a while.

01:53We've got a lot of support from the customers,

01:55and from the hospice as well.

01:57So we're really hoping it's going to take off,

01:59and they've got some planning for the hospice.

02:01I think we've got a bit different volunteers.

02:03We need more volunteers that are coming and support as well.

02:06So hopefully that opens up.

02:08Volunteers who may be in Tahoe,

02:10who may be wanting to kind of, you know, their vintage stuff.

02:13I think that would be really good for us,

02:15trying to, you know, give opportunities for volunteers.

02:18Yeah.

02:33And obviously it was a couple of months ago now

02:36that there was an announcement of the issues that roads are facing.

02:39What's it been like since then, the response from people?

02:48How are you guys doing?

02:50You know, all the different things that are going on.
