FBI Offers $10,000 Reward for Info on Deadly New Mexico Wildfires as Hundreds Face Evacuation

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information about the causes of two wildfires in southern New Mexico - the South Fork Fire and Salt Fire - that killed two people and destroyed hundreds of homes. The South Fork Fire has burned 26 square miles and is 26% contained, while the Salt Fire has burned 12 square miles and is 7% contained. Full containment is not expected until July 15. Recent rains and cooler weather have helped firefighters battling the blazes. The South Fork Fire, fueled by exceptionally dry and hot conditions in the Southwest and exacerbated by strong winds, quickly spread to Ruidoso, resulting in hundreds of evacuations.
