00:00BlackRock is not involved in the Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad deal
00:08Global infrastructure partners made the assurance today, saying that the New York-based investment
00:12firm will not be involved in the privatization exercise despite agreeing to acquire GIP in
00:17January.
00:19Under the privatization deal, GIP is set to own 30% of MAHB with the Abu Dhabi Investment
00:25Authority, while Kazana Nasional Berhad and EPF will hold 70%.
00:30GIP said MAHB would benefit from the privatization exercise through higher investments and improved
00:36service levels, as well as strong growth in passenger traffic.
00:40The company said it might consider relisting MAHB on Bursa Malaysia in the future, but
00:45maintained that it was a long-term investor, typically investing in airports for at least
00:49more than 10 years.
00:51Putrajaya has faced calls to scrap the deal due to GIP's ties with BlackRock, particularly
00:56because of its stakes in U.S. defense firms that allegedly manufacture weapons used by
01:01Israel.
