00:00:00The Big 3 NBA Podcast is powered by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the
00:00:53has been secured. So let's just get right into it. Game five at the TD Garden on 617
00:01:00day, there's a theory that they lost on purpose, which is definitely not true, according to
00:01:06that performance, at least. But the parade is on Friday. We'll talk about that in just
00:01:11a second. Jason Tatum, 31 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists. Jalen Brown, 21 points, 8 rebounds,
00:01:186 assists, and the Bill Russell's 2024 final MVP. Drew Holiday, Luca, everybody showed
00:01:25up. Well, Luca did not show up, but everyone else showed up for the Celtics, at least.
00:01:28So what was your biggest takeaway from the Celtics clinching?
00:01:33I think that the biggest thing was they finished the season off just how it really began. And
00:01:39that is a total team effort. You know, when you start going through the guys that really
00:01:42stepped up in that game five, you know, Tatum had the most points. Jalen had, you know,
00:01:48was right up there with rebounds and assists. Drew Holiday had a double-double, you know,
00:01:51a guy that people aren't going to remember much from this game. But if you went back
00:01:55and watched it from its beginning to the end, you'll realize that Sam Houser, you know,
00:01:59made a couple of plays that set into motion that double-digit lead that they were never
00:02:03able to, that the Celtics were never, they didn't relinquish going forward. You know,
00:02:08Peyton Pritchard with the 49-foot bomb right before the half. I mean, there's a long line
00:02:14of folks who stepped up in the absolute most important game of the season. And that really
00:02:20has been a story of this team's, you know, all year. The fact that different guys stepped
00:02:24up at different moments to deliver what it absolutely mattered most. They capped off
00:02:28one of the best regular seasons and playoff runs in franchise history. And it'll be interesting
00:02:35how people look at this team, not so much today, but in a year, two, five, 10 years
00:02:42from now. I think they will look much more favorably upon this team then than they do
00:02:47right now.
00:02:48Yeah, I was impressed with the overall great team effort, as Sherrod said. Just the maturity
00:02:58of this team, just not letting this go any further than it had to be. I think that there
00:03:03was a lot of concern after game four, like, uh-oh, has Dallas found something? You look
00:03:08at the end of game three, that fourth quarter, the game four, you know, oh my God, here we
00:03:14go. It's going to be an interesting, you know, we remember the Miami series last year when
00:03:18the Cells came back from 3-0. And it was like, well, is this going to be, you know, the Cells
00:03:26going to blow this lead or are they going to make it interesting down three? It's going
00:03:30to be 3-2 and they're going to have to go back to Dallas. Oh my gosh. And is it going
00:03:34to be a game seven on Sunday?
00:03:36The world is ending, Gary. The world is ending right now. The world is ending.
00:03:40I just think that there was a lot of concern after that game four loss. And the Celtics
00:03:45quieted, like, they came into it with the attitude, like, listen, if we don't, this
00:03:49is not the end of the world, we still have more chances. A lot of people didn't like
00:03:51that mentality. I was a little, like, uncomfortable with it. I don't know if I was like, oh, I
00:03:56don't like it. I was like, okay, that's an interesting way to look at it.
00:03:59I didn't like it.
00:04:00You know, another way of, we have more games to play, even if we don't. But they took control
00:04:07early. They never trailed. And I just thought it was a complete team effort. Jason, Jalen,
00:04:14Drew Holiday playing his ball. Chris, that's where Zing is, you know, hats off to him.
00:04:19Sixteen minutes, probably should not have played, but ever been close to the floor,
00:04:23gave him five points. Just, you know, a little something, something, you know, he wasn't
00:04:28going to be, you know, a little criss-crossed from old or healthy. He gave him a little
00:04:34suck, right? Al played his butt off, Peyton with the half-court shot, you know, more than
00:04:41half-court. So, it just, like Shiraz said, typified their entire season. They just battered
00:04:48Dallas with their depth. The defense won this series, too. People, they said, well, you
00:04:54know, what about the offense? The offense was OK in this series, but that defense, man,
00:05:01it put Dallas to shame. Eighty-eight points in a closeout game. Kyrie was never, never
00:05:07right in this series. So, hats off to the Celtics. I mean, amazing season. You know,
00:05:14we've been through all the ups and downs, and I think that a lot of times people judge
00:05:18them on the past, which is understandable, you know, and you hate to put it on guys like
00:05:23Marcus Smart and Grant Williams, who was at the game. Well, Grant Williams was at the
00:05:27game, by the way. Good sport, that guy. Good guy, Grant is. I'm really, I hope that he
00:05:33does well in Charlotte, and a couple of other members of the Charlotte team were there.
00:05:37And Grant Williams' fan club, Gary Washburn, president presiding. Because, you know, he
00:05:43can be bitter, but I'm sure he's happy for his teammates, you know, but Brad Stevens
00:05:50made the moves to make a difference. Joe Masu will coach those guys up, and the players
00:05:55on the floor realize this is their year, and they had to get it done. Because, like, I
00:05:59keep hearing that ad for, what's the post-game podcast you do, Shirai, with all the guys?
00:06:09The Garden Report. The Garden Report, and Shirai saying, you know, anything less than
00:06:13a championship is a failure. And I said that on day one, Gary. I said it on day one. Day
00:06:18one. And that is true, and I think everybody realizes. Yeah, right, it is. And they played
00:06:24that way, they played that way, and they played with that sense of urgency that they didn't
00:06:29want to mess around and let this go to games. You see now, we go to the hockey series. Florida
00:06:35lost again, so now they're headed back to Edmonton, and it's not 3-0 no more, it's 3-2,
00:06:41so this could get real interesting in hockey. They'll say, like, that's not gonna be me.
00:06:45You want to sell the star now in Miami? Miami getting a chill on. Or, probably not chill.
00:06:50But the cross-sport promotion could chuck on the Panthers, who went to Chaminade with
00:06:56Tatum. Now I'm rooting for the Panthers, because I just love this storyline. Two St. Louis
00:07:00boys in their respective championships. Yeah, yeah. In the same year, in the same year.
00:07:07It's crazy. And now Tatum's in Miami, so if they win, they can all celebrate together.
00:07:13I just made all of this up yesterday, by the way, so now I'm expressing how I feel.
00:07:17Very good, Kwanye. Very good.
00:07:18Well, it's true, but I'm—
00:07:19Well done, Kwanye. Well done.
00:07:20Thank you, thank you. Anyway, you were saying, Gary?
00:07:27By the way, Kwanye, Chaka Khan did one of those tiny guest concerts. You've got to look
00:07:37at it. It's like your auntie up there.
00:07:40I saw her, and she looks amazing. And I can look even half as good as she looks.
00:07:46Auntie Kwanye up there, killing it.
00:07:50So anyway—
00:07:51I'll take it.
00:07:53But yeah, I just thought, complete team effort. They did everything they're supposed to do.
00:08:02Like I said, they didn't bop Dallas over the head with offense. They won this series with
00:08:07defense, and you've got to give them credit and love for that.
00:08:10Defense wins championships. Never ever green quote.
00:08:15But let's look at Dallas, because as you mentioned, people thought that there was hope,
00:08:20there was redemption, but they never came back from this one.
00:08:24Luka 28-12 in that Game 5 loss.
00:08:27Kyrie 15 points, 5 for 16 on shooting.
00:08:30I feel like he, not to be funny, but is he cursed at the TD Garden?
00:08:38What do you think, Gary? That's your boy, Gary.
00:08:41What was going on?
00:08:42I don't know. He had some moments. He had a couple of threes, but he just wasn't as good.
00:08:49In Dallas, he was really good in Game 3, okay in Game 4.
00:08:56But yeah, I wonder about... I wonder. That's all I got.
00:09:06It all started when he staged the TD Garden.
00:09:10I don't know. It's something psychological. At first, I was like, no, it's just happenstance.
00:09:15They played on a couple of bad teams, he's come in.
00:09:18But yeah, it's just night and day, the performances.
00:09:23Yeah.
00:09:24You honestly have to attribute it to maybe not just having his mental right when he gets in.
00:09:32Something about the atmosphere, closeout game.
00:09:37He looked okay. He got off to a decent start.
00:09:40It was like, okay, here comes Kyrie.
00:09:44Not that he was going to score 40 points, but he was going to have a solid game.
00:09:50And he was okay again. He was in.
00:09:56If you look at his... I'm sorry, bad. 5 for 16.
00:10:00Yeah, he was bad.
00:10:013 for 9. He had 9 assists, minus 11.
00:10:06But nothing special. Absolutely nothing special.
00:10:10Just not that one-two punch that he needed to be with Luka.
00:10:20Just he wasn't.
00:10:21And that has to be a real disappointment.
00:10:24I'm sure the Mavericks have to figure out, okay, is he that guy to be that second primary option on a championship-caliber team?
00:10:34Because if you look at his numbers, I mean, he averaged 20 points.
00:10:40But a lot of that's those two Dallas games.
00:10:4327% from three, 41% from the field.
00:10:49Not good. Not good.
00:10:52Dallas just wasn't good other than Luka.
00:10:56That's the main problem.
00:11:00And they didn't have enough supporting cast.
00:11:03A lot of those guys are awful in this series.
00:11:08Derrick Jones, 3 for 12 from three.
00:11:12P.J. Washington, 6 for 22 from three.
00:11:16Derrick Lively had one good game.
00:11:18A lot of that was just the lack of support for Luka.
00:11:22I can't put everything on Luka in this series.
00:11:25Kyrie and those guys did not help him out at all, man.
00:11:29They left him hanging.
00:11:32They was like our friend Vinny Goodwill.
00:11:35Wow.
00:11:39I got mine. How much you got?
00:11:41Oh, damn. I left my wallet at home.
00:11:45Did he put my boy V on blast?
00:11:47He just put my boy on blast.
00:11:49Hi, Vinny.
00:11:51Vinny keeps getting all these unsolicited shouts.
00:11:55Poor Vinny.
00:11:58It's been a tough NBA Finals for the V-Man.
00:12:02He's a great writer, great journalist.
00:12:06If you don't read him, you should.
00:12:09Puts everything in perspective.
00:12:11It's been a tough road for the V-Man.
00:12:14I don't care what y'all say.
00:12:16I still got love for my nephew.
00:12:18That's my nephew.
00:12:20Y'all need to step back.
00:12:22Y'all know my nephew will come out swinging.
00:12:25Y'all know what he do.
00:12:27Right now, Detroit coaching story.
00:12:31Once again, Shiraz Pistons have decided to make a change.
00:12:37Flowers of Monty Williams.
00:12:42When we think about that, let's just talk about it.
00:12:44I know it's derailing, but I don't care.
00:12:46Monty's going to be okay.
00:12:48There's 65 million reasons why Monty Williams is going to be alright about this.
00:12:54I can't be mad at him or disappointed in him.
00:12:59If they come into the office and say,
00:13:01Hey, look, we gotta cut you loose.
00:13:03Okay.
00:13:05Bye. Let me get my mug.
00:13:07Let me get my coat.
00:13:09We good.
00:13:12You do know y'all owe me $65 million.
00:13:14Monty can do whatever he wants to at this point.
00:13:18He can take an assistant job.
00:13:20I don't think he's going to get another head job.
00:13:22Not anytime soon, if at all.
00:13:24I think he may get a chance to be an assistant on another staff, perhaps.
00:13:31What about Boston?
00:13:33Think he'd fit in Boston?
00:13:35I don't know.
00:13:37I do think that it's worth exploring.
00:13:40Boston, you ain't got to worry about paying him.
00:13:44Monty's going to work for free, but Monty ain't going to hold you over a barrel and say,
00:13:49Hey, y'all got to pay me this much if y'all want me to be an assistant in Boston.
00:13:53And a championship.
00:13:55He's got 65 million reasons why.
00:13:57Which y'all looking to pay him?
00:13:59$5.
00:14:01I'll take that $5.
00:14:03Get a run to get bus fare.
00:14:06We'll get you 10.
00:14:08We'll get you Uber.
00:14:10Monty's going to be alright, though.
00:14:14I do think he's going to resurface on some team's bench somewhere, but he will not be his head coach.
00:14:19And he could be in Boston.
00:14:21That's not a big stretch, especially when you consider you're definitely losing Charles.
00:14:27You may lose Sam, too.
00:14:29And you don't know who else may be going with Charles to Charlotte.
00:14:33Or who may be going to possibly whoever LA hires.
00:14:38Maybe on their new coach's staff.
00:14:40Or even Van Gundy's role.
00:14:42Van Gundy's now gone, too.
00:14:47So Joe has some stuff.
00:14:49Some positions to fill.
00:14:51Joe and Brad have positions to fill.
00:14:53Elton's are hiring.
00:14:55As the NBA and NHL seasons start to wind down, things are just heating up in the WNBA and on the baseball front.
00:15:04There's no better time than now to join PrizePicks, America's number one fantasy sports app with more than 5 million active members.
00:15:11With PrizePicks, you can turn $10 into $1,000 in a single game watching your favorite sports team this summer.
00:15:19You can make a PrizePick lineup in as little as 60 seconds.
00:15:23You just need to pick more or less on 2-6 players, stat projections, and you're locked in.
00:15:28For me, one of my go-to guys has been Jason Tatum of the Boston Celtics who, when it comes to rebounding, I'm going more almost every time.
00:15:37He was great for me during the Eastern Conference Finals against Indiana when he reached double-digit rebounds in 3 of the 4 games.
00:15:43That's what I'm talking about, JT.
00:15:45Download the app today and use code CLNS for a first deposit match up to $100.
00:15:52That's right, just download the app today and use code CLNS for a first deposit match up to $100.
00:16:00Pick more, pick less, it's that easy.
00:16:22It seems like he was backtracking when he said he wishes when he was here that he made an initiative
00:16:28to reach out to the legends and ask for their counsel and kind of pick their brains.
00:16:33What did you two make of that comment?
00:16:36Go Gary.
00:16:37Why at that time?
00:16:38Go Gary.
00:16:39I'm going to try.
00:16:40Here's what I make of that comment.
00:16:44To me, this whole playoff run was just like revisionist history, Kyrie 101.
00:16:50Trying to change the narrative of his time here and make it a little bit more palatable for folks
00:16:56and make him seem less controversial than he was when he was here.
00:17:01I'm not buying it at all.
00:17:03Kyrie is a really smart guy.
00:17:06You don't have to agree with all that he says.
00:17:08You don't have to understand everything he says.
00:17:10But there is a certain amount of thought that goes into pretty much everything he does.
00:17:14And Kyrie understands that at this point, he is closer towards being a historical figure
00:17:21in the basketball landscape than he is a guy who is bawling out of his mind.
00:17:26He can still do that, but you're thinking more and more about him as far as his historical
00:17:31relevance and position in the league than you are what he can do going forward.
00:17:36And so he, I think, understands that.
00:17:38And I think he's trying to reshape the narrative surrounding who he is
00:17:42in a way that doesn't seem as abrasive or as offensive as it was in that moment.
00:17:48This whole talk about wanting to, if I could do it again, I'd connect with the legends.
00:17:53Stop, bruh. Stop.
00:17:56Because if there's one thing that separates this organization from damn near every one other
00:18:02organization, it's that the legends don't just go away.
00:18:06I mean, if you really, really, really wanted to connect with the legends,
00:18:10Bob Cousy is right up the damn road.
00:18:12If you really wanted to connect with legends, Sat Sanders is a short phone call away.
00:18:17If you really wanted to connect with the legends, you got Tommy Heinsohn, who, bless his soul,
00:18:21was right in the building every game.
00:18:23So don't give me this, I want to connect with the legends, mumble jumble.
00:18:27Because you know damn well that you could have easily done that.
00:18:31They were literally, literally in your face.
00:18:35So no, not trying to hear this nonsense about,
00:18:38I wish I would have connected more with the legends.
00:18:40Come on, man. Stop. Stop it.
00:18:43Gary, go get your boy. Stop it.
00:18:45Get some help, Steven A.
00:18:49I think, I'll end with this.
00:18:52I think Kyrie is being honest in a sense of what his mindset was when he was in Boston.
00:19:01And when he was here, he was just not an approachable, friendly guy at all.
00:19:05He just was not.
00:19:06And so, hence, he didn't connect with the legends.
00:19:09He didn't talk to people.
00:19:10He didn't talk to, and that was 18 and 19.
00:19:13And there were some people who were still alive back then with Tommy.
00:19:17Guys like John Hablachad.
00:19:19There were some legends that were still alive.
00:19:21Sam Jones.
00:19:23And even the more recent ones, shoot, Max is always around, right?
00:19:27Or even the ones that played, might have even played against him for a minute,
00:19:31with Pierce and Garnett.
00:19:33And even like a Ray Allen.
00:19:36To me, he was just in a different space when he was here.
00:19:41He was extremely arrogant, pompous.
00:19:44He was like, I don't think he knew how to handle what was about to happen.
00:19:50And he thought he was ready, and he wasn't.
00:19:53He had just done, and it was just ironic too, because he had just done Uncle Drew.
00:19:59So here he is on this new Hollywood stage.
00:20:03He basically says he covets his privacy.
00:20:06Leave me alone.
00:20:07Don't get inside my personal life, but yeah, I'm going to do this movie.
00:20:12And I'm going to be doing all the media, and I'm going to have a premiere,
00:20:15and I'm going to have all these Bass Coopers in it in this movie.
00:20:20You know what I'm saying?
00:20:21I liked Uncle Drew.
00:20:22I didn't think it was a bad movie or whatever.
00:20:23I thought it was a pretty good movie.
00:20:24A little cute basketball movie, you know?
00:20:27But he had just done that.
00:20:29And I just think his whole mind frame was still about, it's about me.
00:20:33And is this the place where I can be completely myself?
00:20:38And I don't even think he really realized what himself was at that time.
00:20:43So yeah, I mean, I think, and then this whole like, well, you know,
00:20:48you better study up on the tradition, and you better,
00:20:51and I've heard other players say that, that they got here
00:20:55and they weren't really into the whole Celtic thing.
00:20:59What does that mean?
00:21:00So what?
00:21:01I wasn't even alive then.
00:21:02What you talking about?
00:21:03Like, there's been players and other players in the past
00:21:06who have come to Boston and been like, you know,
00:21:09y'all have been trash since I was born.
00:21:11I don't know.
00:21:12I wasn't around in the 60s.
00:21:13I wasn't around in the 70s.
00:21:15You know, I wasn't even, I was a, you know, baby in 86 or whatever.
00:21:19You know, you have some of these, you know, players who don't recall
00:21:23and don't pay homage, and that's just not the approach to have here.
00:21:28I think we all understand that since we've all been in this market.
00:21:31This is a different place.
00:21:32And I think Kyrie wasn't prepared for that.
00:21:35Even though his dad played, you know, he claimed,
00:21:38oh, this is like a second home.
00:21:39Oh, my dad played at Boston University.
00:21:41I know the city.
00:21:42Like, then it was a bunch of cry.
00:21:45It was a bunch of BS.
00:21:46He just wasn't ready to be a leader.
00:21:48He wasn't ready to be a good teammate.
00:21:50He wasn't even ready to be a good person in terms of like the people
00:21:53in the organization.
00:21:54He did nothing, very few, unless it was forced community service stuff.
00:21:59You know, I mean, it's like Kyrie, you got this kind of angle,
00:22:05you know, this African American pro, you know, angle with the Black.
00:22:11He never reached out to the Black community here.
00:22:13He never did events.
00:22:15I don't know if you all remember, like, I don't ever remember
00:22:18Kyrie doing something at Boys and Girls Club.
00:22:21I'm not talking about every week.
00:22:23No, I think you're right, because that was the year I was going
00:22:25to all the community events.
00:22:26Yeah, there was nothing, no offense.
00:22:28Like, Kyrie didn't do nothing.
00:22:30He was not one of them guys, okay, put me on the list.
00:22:32And then the report about Christmas.
00:22:34Yeah.
00:22:35About giving the kid a gift, and he was just like, well,
00:22:38I understand he doesn't celebrate Christmas, but it was still,
00:22:41like, that's a gift.
00:22:42Yeah, it was just things like, you know,
00:22:44ain't nobody say he had to be Taco Fall or Grant Williams or this,
00:22:48the guys at the every, you know, even Brandon Bass and Kelly Olenek.
00:22:52I mean, you know, there was guys who participated.
00:22:55And, you know, it would have been cool to frame once in a while
00:22:58to do something, or, you know, if you wanted to be, you know,
00:23:02embrace the people of color here, then you should have done that,
00:23:05Kyrie, you could have been a hero here.
00:23:07You know, I'm not talking about every week, but once every,
00:23:10once a season, twice a season, you go out,
00:23:13you shoot some basketballs with these kids,
00:23:15you give them a thrill, a memory for the rest of their life,
00:23:19you know, or you give a clinic or a camp,
00:23:22something like that in Boston, like nothing like that.
00:23:25You know, he was like, don't mess with me.
00:23:28Don't talk to, don't, that's not me.
00:23:31So, I mean, I kind of understand his saying,
00:23:37basically saying that, you know, I didn't do it right.
00:23:41And I agree with him, he didn't.
00:23:43And it's good to see him reflective, but you would have,
00:23:48it's even more frustrating because you want to see,
00:23:51like, damn, man, you could have really put your imprint
00:23:56on this area in those two years.
00:23:59Even if it didn't work out on the floor,
00:24:01you could have been a figure in the community,
00:24:04you could have given back some, and he didn't do nothing, man.
00:24:07Like, I just remember that, he was just not,
00:24:10he didn't do much at all.
00:24:12And privately, he has done great things,
00:24:15giving, like, no, no, so let's not put this in,
00:24:18he ain't gonna do nothing for nobody ever, no, no, no.
00:24:21Kyrie's a philanthropist, he has done a lot of things,
00:24:24he's paid for funerals, like, not saying that,
00:24:27like, much kudos to that.
00:24:29But in the city of Boston, in reaching out to the people
00:24:32and being a person of the people,
00:24:34he didn't, he had a chance and he botched it.
00:24:37And even connecting with some of the all-time greats,
00:24:41he was too cool for school for that.
00:24:44And that hurt him.
00:24:46And so people don't, aren't fond of him,
00:24:50and don't have fond memories of him,
00:24:53not only on the court, but off the court.
00:24:57Absolutely.
00:24:58I mean, that's why a guy like Isaiah Thomas
00:25:01is always gonna be loved here,
00:25:02because even though they didn't win a championship,
00:25:04they didn't, you know, come close to doing that,
00:25:07he made himself part of this community,
00:25:09and part of this franchise on and off the court.
00:25:13I mean, how many NBA all-stars
00:25:14would just roll up to some park
00:25:16and start playing ball with a kid?
00:25:19That's the kind of stuff that, it took maybe, what,
00:25:22maybe 15, 20, 25 minutes out of Isaiah Thomas' life,
00:25:25he gave that young man a memory for life.
00:25:27And he gave this community a memory of him
00:25:30that is always gonna be around.
00:25:32And again, you don't expect Kyrie to do those type of things,
00:25:35you certainly didn't expect him to do those type of things.
00:25:37But you would have thought that for someone
00:25:40who has as many different platforms
00:25:43that are about aiding and assisting,
00:25:45you know, the marginalized of our society,
00:25:48that he would have taken it upon himself
00:25:50to do some of that in Boston.
00:25:51And again, I, there's no rhyme or reason
00:25:54as to why he didn't.
00:25:56But I do appreciate the fact that I think
00:25:58he's starting to recognize the missed opportunity
00:26:01that he had in Boston.
00:26:03And I think, in part, that gives him a better understanding
00:26:06of why do people hate him so much around here?
00:26:09I mean, especially after he said,
00:26:12if you have me, I'll stay.
00:26:13I mean, they're thinking, like, wait a minute.
00:26:16You know what happened?
00:26:17He was in the middle of the event.
00:26:19He just, like, grabbed the mic from Skyle
00:26:21and was like, well, I need a mic.
00:26:22And he just got up and was like...
00:26:24I mean, it's the kind of stuff that,
00:26:26it puts you in a space that,
00:26:28if you back out of that, it's just like,
00:26:30you are persona non grata forever in the mind,
00:26:33particularly in a fan base like this one.
00:26:35I mean, this ain't Oklahoma City or, you know,
00:26:39Charlotte on a Tuesday crowd.
00:26:41It ain't that.
00:26:42It's not that kind of fan base.
00:26:44They are as passionate a fan base
00:26:46as you're going to find in the NBA.
00:26:48And there is a,
00:26:51that fandom comes at a cost.
00:26:53And when they feel that you've crossed them,
00:26:55they are going to make you pay for the rest of your life.
00:26:58So, anyway.
00:27:01Let's move on, Kwanye.
00:27:02Yeah, let's talk about the MVP.
00:27:05The Bill Russell 2024 MVP.
00:27:08Couldn't have been a better person
00:27:10when you think about namesake and mission and vision.
00:27:13Not everybody felt that way, Kwanye.
00:27:15Not everyone felt that way.
00:27:17Oh my gosh.
00:27:18Every time, Gary.
00:27:19I'm so sorry.
00:27:20So, your vote.
00:27:22They release all the voters.
00:27:25Okay.
00:27:27When I saw the voters,
00:27:29for our listeners who may not be as familiar with the process...
00:27:33Break it down, Kwanye.
00:27:34Break it down first, Gary.
00:27:35No, I want Gary to break it down.
00:27:36How does it work for you?
00:27:38There's 11 votes.
00:27:3911 voters.
00:27:41And you can vote who you want.
00:27:43And it's one writer,
00:27:45generally one writer from each market.
00:27:47So, one from Dallas,
00:27:49one from Austin.
00:27:51Shout out Mike Curtis.
00:27:52Was he the designated one?
00:27:54I didn't look at all the names.
00:27:56I saw him on the list.
00:27:57He got a vote somehow.
00:27:59Yeah.
00:28:01I think two from there.
00:28:02ESPN, NBA people.
00:28:04So, Doris Burke.
00:28:06I think PJ Carlissimo was on that list.
00:28:10Malika Andrews.
00:28:11So, that made four.
00:28:13And I think it was seven national writers.
00:28:18They should pick a random fan to be spicy.
00:28:21Yeah.
00:28:22Something like that.
00:28:23Sure.
00:28:24Sure, Kwanye.
00:28:26So, yeah.
00:28:27That was it.
00:28:28And we just vote.
00:28:32That was it.
00:28:33And people ask me,
00:28:37what was I thinking or whatever.
00:28:39I just thought Tatum led the team
00:28:41in points, rebounds, and assists.
00:28:44And I just thought that sequence
00:28:48in the third quarter
00:28:49when it was kind of hanging on.
00:28:52Dallas was still kind of hanging around.
00:28:55And he put the hammer down.
00:28:57I just thought that kind of clinched it for him.
00:28:59And as I said,
00:29:00I had no issues with Jalen winning.
00:29:03I was split.
00:29:05I voted for Jalen for
00:29:08the Eastern Conference Finals MVP.
00:29:12And that was five to four.
00:29:15But if you look at the voters,
00:29:16yeah, like, you know,
00:29:18Vinny was on the list, Sean Powell,
00:29:21our friend, you know,
00:29:22Jeff Zilger from USA Today,
00:29:24Simone Sandry from Italy,
00:29:27Mike Curtis, P.J. Colisimo.
00:29:29So, yeah, various national,
00:29:33and then TV,
00:29:34and then a couple of ESPN folks get to vote.
00:29:36Do you know ahead of the game
00:29:37that you're getting,
00:29:38I imagine you know ahead of the game
00:29:39you're getting that vote, right?
00:29:41They inform you, like, during the series
00:29:43when it gets to, like, closing,
00:29:45and ask if you want to.
00:29:46Some people don't want to vote.
00:29:48Yeah, freshly.
00:29:49So they ask, and I always say,
00:29:50okay, that's cool.
00:29:52So, yeah, this one, you know,
00:29:56like, the Jalen one was five to four.
00:29:58I was like, man, you know,
00:29:59I might have put him over the top.
00:30:01This one, I wasn't, you know, like,
00:30:04oh, like, I wasn't sure.
00:30:05I didn't know,
00:30:06it was two more voters than it was
00:30:07for each conference.
00:30:08So it was 11 and not nine.
00:30:10And I thought Jason,
00:30:12Jalen would probably win it
00:30:13because some of us discussed it
00:30:15during halftime,
00:30:16like, where we were leaning.
00:30:19But I just thought those buckets
00:30:21that Jason got down the stretch
00:30:25were just put him over the top.
00:30:28But, obviously,
00:30:30not everybody felt that way.
00:30:31And I thought, obviously,
00:30:32Jalen's defense on Luka
00:30:35was remarkable.
00:30:37I think that was probably
00:30:38the biggest surprise of the series
00:30:40was the defense they played on Luka.
00:30:43Obviously, I think the surprises
00:30:45in terms of Dallas
00:30:46were their supporting cast
00:30:48never really stepped up.
00:30:49Kyrie was bad.
00:30:51Mostly, not bad,
00:30:52he was below average.
00:30:53He was.
00:30:54He was trash most of the series.
00:30:55I'm going to say it for you guys.
00:30:56You ain't got to say it
00:30:57because you're really nice.
00:30:58I'm not.
00:30:59He was trash most of the series.
00:31:00And the defense on Luka,
00:31:03I thought was one of the biggest
00:31:05surprises of the series.
00:31:06And that was because of Jalen.
00:31:07So, much respect to Jalen.
00:31:10I just thought Jason,
00:31:1231-11,
00:31:13assists, eight rebounds,
00:31:14and a closeout game,
00:31:16kind of a signature moment,
00:31:17hitting those big shots,
00:31:18that hand one.
00:31:19Like, I said, with Dallas,
00:31:21it was a 26-point lead.
00:31:24Then it went to 18.
00:31:25And I think we're all asking ourselves,
00:31:27okay, is this going to be
00:31:28one of those games
00:31:29where it gets to, like, nine
00:31:30and it gets nervous?
00:31:31And Jason was like,
00:31:32nah, we good.
00:31:34I got this.
00:31:37So, that's what
00:31:38put it over the top for me.
00:31:40But I was,
00:31:41I was glad to be,
00:31:42I was, you know,
00:31:43I'm glad if I was wrong
00:31:44or he didn't win,
00:31:45I had no problem with that.
00:31:47I'm so happy for Jalen.
00:31:49I was actually surprised
00:31:52that Jalen won.
00:31:53And here's why.
00:31:55I mean, Jalen was, too.
00:31:56After the first three games,
00:31:58I thought Jalen was
00:31:59a clear-cut MVP
00:32:00after the first three games.
00:32:01Game four,
00:32:02everyone sucked on the Celtics
00:32:04for the most part,
00:32:05but I thought Tatum
00:32:06sucked the least of them.
00:32:08And so, I thought because of that,
00:32:09he had closed the gap a little bit
00:32:11from the first three games.
00:32:13I still thought Jalen was the MVP,
00:32:16but I think the gap
00:32:17was a little bit closer
00:32:18going into game five.
00:32:19And I just thought
00:32:20the difference in game five
00:32:21was going to put Tatum over the top.
00:32:22Tatum was the best player
00:32:23on the floor in game five.
00:32:25When you look at his scoring,
00:32:26you look at the rebounding,
00:32:27you look at the playmaking,
00:32:29his defense was really good,
00:32:30I thought.
00:32:31And to me,
00:32:32it was a no-debate
00:32:34that he was the best player
00:32:36in the most important game
00:32:38of the season,
00:32:39making all the big plays
00:32:41that we had seen
00:32:42Derek Wyatt or Drew Holliday
00:32:44or Jalen Brown make
00:32:45through the first three games.
00:32:47Tatum was doing that.
00:32:49And my thinking was that,
00:32:51well, if it was fairly close
00:32:53coming into this,
00:32:54this probably put Tatum over the top.
00:32:56I thought it was going to be
00:32:57a 6-5 type of situation
00:33:00where Tatum would win,
00:33:01but it would be as close
00:33:02as you could possibly be
00:33:04to not winning.
00:33:06And when they said
00:33:07that it was 7-4,
00:33:08I'm thinking like,
00:33:09damn, Tatum did better than I thought.
00:33:10And then it says Jalen Brown,
00:33:11I was like, oh, wow.
00:33:14And when you look at Jalen's face,
00:33:16if you want to do a side-by-side
00:33:18screenshot of me and Jalen,
00:33:20we had very similar expressions of shock
00:33:23because I didn't think
00:33:24he was going to win it.
00:33:25And again,
00:33:26it has nothing to do with him
00:33:27playing down or not being worthy.
00:33:29It's just,
00:33:30I thought the gap was so close
00:33:32going into that Game 5
00:33:34that I thought Tatum had done enough
00:33:36to put him over the top.
00:33:37But clearly,
00:33:38folks felt otherwise.
00:33:39And I have no problem with that
00:33:41because if you're looking at
00:33:42the totality of what,
00:33:43to me,
00:33:44what he did throughout
00:33:45the entire playoff run,
00:33:46Jalen Brown was the most valuable
00:33:48player on this team.
00:33:49You look at the shots
00:33:50that he made in just critical,
00:33:52game-changing,
00:33:54series shifting moments,
00:33:56Jalen Brown delivered.
00:33:58And even in Game 5,
00:34:00even though Tatum was the best player,
00:34:01Jalen had some moments
00:34:02where he had some really big plays.
00:34:04And again,
00:34:05going back to his defense on Luka,
00:34:06you know,
00:34:07Luka is a phenomenal score.
00:34:09One of the best,
00:34:10I think,
00:34:11the league has to offer right now.
00:34:13And he does it with very little motion.
00:34:16He's not,
00:34:17you know,
00:34:19beating you with above-the-rim stuff
00:34:21or shooting from 50 feet
00:34:23and doing all the things
00:34:24that we've come to define
00:34:25as greatness.
00:34:26He just finds ways to get buckets.
00:34:28And Jalen made him work
00:34:30harder than I think
00:34:31he's ever had to work.
00:34:32Luka's probably gonna have to rethink
00:34:34what his off-season regimen is
00:34:35because of Jalen Brown.
00:34:37Jalen Brown wore his ass out.
00:34:39And he said,
00:34:40when Luka is there,
00:34:41put me back in too.
00:34:42Yeah.
00:34:43Yeah.
00:34:44And,
00:34:45you know,
00:34:46and that doesn't even get into
00:34:47some of the leadership stuff
00:34:48that Jalen,
00:34:49you know,
00:34:50did.
00:34:51I mean,
00:34:52they had Jalen mic'd up
00:34:53for game five
00:34:54and they were showing
00:34:55some of the sound from that.
00:34:56And I was listening to that
00:34:57this morning
00:34:58and there was a point
00:34:59before the game
00:35:00where Jalen goes over the tatum
00:35:01and he just says,
00:35:02you know,
00:35:03in his ear,
00:35:04like,
00:35:05you're not gonna be alone out there.
00:35:06Remember that.
00:35:07And he had his arm on his back
00:35:08just kind of patting him.
00:35:09And that's the kind of stuff
00:35:10that it absolutely smacks
00:35:11the crap out of that narrative
00:35:12that these two can't get along.
00:35:13That these two can't
00:35:14work together.
00:35:15Jalen understands that.
00:35:16Both of them have talked
00:35:17Jalen understands
00:35:18that his value
00:35:19is predicated
00:35:20heavily on what tatum does.
00:35:21And tatum has said
00:35:22the same thing.
00:35:23They cannot be
00:35:24as dominant a player
00:35:25as they have shown
00:35:26themselves to be thus far
00:35:27without the other.
00:35:28It is a proven fact
00:35:29that over the course
00:35:30of a playoff series,
00:35:31at some point,
00:35:32those two are going
00:35:33to put the Celtics
00:35:34over the top
00:35:35because of their ability
00:35:36to work in sync
00:35:37with each other.
00:35:38And I thought,
00:35:39again,
00:35:40this was the first
00:35:41playoff run
00:35:42where we've seen
00:35:43more times than not,
00:35:44they weren't tripping
00:35:45over each other
00:35:46to be that guy.
00:35:47They just seemed
00:35:48to be kind of running
00:35:49at a very comparable pace.
00:35:50It's just that
00:35:51it was faster than
00:35:52anyone else was running.
00:35:53And so,
00:35:54it was really good
00:35:55to see them really,
00:35:56I think,
00:35:57show
00:35:58their,
00:35:59as close to their potential
00:36:00as a tandem
00:36:01as we've seen
00:36:02in their careers.
00:36:03And again,
00:36:04I think,
00:36:05you know,
00:36:06I'm like,
00:36:07I'm with Gary on this one.
00:36:08I would not have had an issue
00:36:09with either one
00:36:10of them being MVP.
00:36:11And if it came down
00:36:12to where it was like
00:36:13a tie,
00:36:14I think
00:36:15if it came down
00:36:16to where it was like
00:36:17a tie for MVP
00:36:18where someone said
00:36:19both of them
00:36:20and five were four,
00:36:21five were for one
00:36:22and five for the other
00:36:23and someone said,
00:36:24I can't pick one
00:36:25so I'm gonna pick both.
00:36:26I would have been cool
00:36:27with that.
00:36:28They would have been cool
00:36:29with that.
00:36:30I mean,
00:36:31in fact,
00:36:32I bet you if there was
00:36:33some collusion
00:36:34among the voters,
00:36:35which there wasn't,
00:36:36that probably
00:36:37would have happened.
00:36:38Has that ever
00:36:39happened in the past?
00:36:40I don't think so.
00:36:41I don't think
00:36:42there's ever been a tie.
00:36:43Yeah,
00:36:45this would have been
00:36:46the year for that.
00:36:47The NBA Finals

00:37:23Those tickets

00:37:41in my area,
00:37:42which is great
00:37:43this time of year
00:37:44when you're excited
00:37:45and you're scrambling
00:37:46for something to do
00:37:47that won't break
00:37:48the bank,
00:37:49like, you know,

00:38:14No, I do appreciate
00:38:15how Jalen Brown
00:38:16used that underdog
00:38:17mentality to be
00:38:18as productive
00:38:19as he was
00:38:20this postseason
00:38:21because he's been
00:38:22told ever since
00:38:23Tatum's been drafted
00:38:24that it's Tatum's team
00:38:25and not necessarily
00:38:26by his teammates,
00:38:27but the outsiders,
00:38:28the noise,
00:38:29the media,
00:38:30whatever the case may be.
00:38:31So the fact that he won,
00:38:32again, I know that
00:38:33he was shocked,
00:38:34but I am also
00:38:35happy for him
00:38:36because let's say
00:38:37this ends up
00:38:38really becoming
00:38:39Tatum's team
00:38:40even though
00:38:41they've gone
00:38:42even though
00:38:43they've clearly
00:38:44proven that
00:38:45that's not the case
00:38:46that the two of them
00:38:47can coexist
00:38:48and be just as productive.
00:38:49At least he has
00:38:50one already
00:38:51because we know
00:38:52like especially
00:38:53from that vote
00:38:54that Tatum
00:38:55most likely will be
00:38:56getting a lot more
00:38:57of those,
00:38:58a lot of those
00:38:59in the future.
00:39:00So no loss
00:39:01on Tatum's part,
00:39:02but also congratulations
00:39:03to Jalen
00:39:04because now he has
00:39:05the opportunity
00:39:06and of course
00:39:07he'll be fueled
00:39:08to want to get it again.
00:39:09So friendly competition.
00:39:10I'm a fan of it.
00:39:11All right,
00:39:12let's look at the big picture.
00:39:13All-time great offense,
00:39:15elite defense.
00:39:16Is this,
00:39:17I'm being a little dramatic here,
00:39:19one of the all-time great...
00:39:21Wait, why are you being
00:39:22a little dramatic?
00:39:26Do you think this is
00:39:27one of the all-time great
00:39:28Celtics teams?
00:39:29If so, why?
00:39:31And if not,
00:39:32what are they missing?
00:39:35Gary.
00:39:36I want to hear
00:39:37what you got to say.
00:39:38They're missing Gary.
00:39:39That's what they need.
00:39:41I have to,
00:39:42I mean,
00:39:43if you look at the numbers,
00:39:44you got to put them
00:39:46on that level
00:39:48because of their playoff run.
00:39:50It's really hard
00:39:51to go 16-3 in the playoffs,
00:39:52and I don't care who you play,
00:39:54and people will
00:39:55kind of dissect
00:39:56the competition.
00:39:57Well, they didn't play
00:39:59because you could say
00:40:00like they didn't play
00:40:01that like equal.
00:40:02One,
00:40:03they didn't have an equal
00:40:04really this year.
00:40:05Secondly,
00:40:06they didn't play Denver.
00:40:07They didn't play
00:40:09Oklahoma City.
00:40:10They didn't play
00:40:11a Milwaukee or feel like
00:40:12a showdown series.
00:40:14You know,
00:40:15even the Knicks,
00:40:16you know,
00:40:17they didn't play
00:40:18that epic series
00:40:19with the dramatic music
00:40:21and the going back and forth
00:40:23and the start,
00:40:24like they didn't play
00:40:26that series.
00:40:27They handled their business
00:40:29so much
00:40:30easier
00:40:31and made it look like
00:40:33the competition was bad.
00:40:35I thought,
00:40:36you know,
00:40:37Miami wasn't
00:40:38up to par,
00:40:39obviously,
00:40:40without Jimmy Butler.
00:40:41I thought Cleveland
00:40:42was solid,
00:40:43but everybody,
00:40:44you know,
00:40:45and then Indiana
00:40:46was a team that was
00:40:47kind of tricky,
00:40:48very hard to play.
00:40:49The Celtics,
00:40:50after almost
00:40:51damn near losing
00:40:52that game one
00:40:53in Indiana,
00:40:54took care of business,
00:40:55swept them,
00:40:56won some close games
00:40:57in Indiana,
00:40:58took care of business
00:40:59and got them out of there.
00:41:00And then Dallas,
00:41:01who had beaten
00:41:02Oklahoma City,
00:41:03you know,
00:41:04had beaten Minnesota,
00:41:05which beat Denver,
00:41:06took care of them
00:41:07and got them out of there.
00:41:08So,
00:41:09you know,
00:41:10it's like,
00:41:11you know,
00:41:12it's like,
00:41:13it's like,
00:41:14it's like,
00:41:15it's like,
00:41:16it's like,
00:41:17it's like,
00:41:18it's like,
00:41:19it's like,
00:41:20it's like,

00:55:12it's like,
00:55:13she's like,
00:55:14that's not,
00:55:15described exactly.
00:55:16That's not described exactly.
00:55:17But there's this like self messaging that,
00:55:18but there's this self messaging that,
00:55:19but frankly,
00:55:20like the people who are basically in that kind of
00:55:21quasi a spot
00:55:22quasi a spot
00:55:23won't be back.
00:55:24Won't be back.
00:55:25Um.
00:55:26Yeah,
00:55:27Yeah,
00:55:28I'd soy,
00:55:29I'd say yes.
00:55:30the top eight will be back.
00:55:31The topic will be back.
00:55:32The only person in question
00:55:33is,
00:55:34I don't know Tillman is the one
00:55:35is probably
00:55:36isn't the one is probably
00:55:37on question,
00:55:38I don't consider Tillman and Cornett in the top eight.
00:55:42But yeah, the whole gang is coming back.
00:55:44They have a player option, sorry, team option on Hauser.
00:55:47They're certainly going to exercise that.
00:55:50Hell yeah.
00:55:50Richard just signed an extension.
00:55:52Horford's got one more year on his deal.
00:55:56He's coming back.
00:55:57Porzingis and Holley just signed extensions.
00:56:00Jason's about to get Piz-Aid in a couple of weeks.
00:56:04So yeah, the gang is all coming back.
00:56:06Derek White's the only one whose numbers you don't have a feel for just yet.
00:56:11But everything that they have said and done at this point
00:56:16leads you to believe that they're going to get a deal done with Derek White.
00:56:19And he is another one that's going to get Piz-Aid, as Gary puts it.
00:56:24Not like Tatum, certainly not like Tatum,
00:56:26but he's going to get broke off well, which he deserves.
00:56:31He absolutely deserves that.
00:56:35I don't think my boy O'Shea will be back though.
00:56:37Oh, yeah.
00:56:39He's got a player option though.
00:56:41So, I mean, he's going to do what players do.
00:56:43He's going to play that option and try to get that cheddar elsewhere.
00:56:48Got his championship.
00:56:49Now let's go get that cheddar.
00:56:50Look, all right, another game.
00:56:52Fill in the lane.
00:56:54The Celtics need to blink in order to repeat as NBA champions next season.
00:57:02Real simple, real simple.
00:57:03Stay healthy.
00:57:05Stay healthy.
00:57:06I think that is more than anything else would keep them from repeating.
00:57:11We saw how one injury they were able to withstand with Porzingis.
00:57:16And it wasn't for the totality of the playoffs.
00:57:19But my gut tells me that if they were to go into the postseason
00:57:23and have something similar like that happen and face the tougher team,
00:57:26which I think they will next year,
00:57:30being able to navigate around his absence will be much harder for them.
00:57:35So, to me, staying healthy is the absolute essence for this team
00:57:40in order to repeat as champs next year.
00:57:43Yeah, I'm going to say that, but also the hunger.
00:57:46You know, that championship hangover is hard.
00:57:49And I think if you look at the Denver Nuggets,
00:57:51they look like they were primed, but then they didn't have the supporting cast.
00:57:56The mistake they made is they let Bruce Brown go and Jeff Green.
00:58:00They thought they could replace him with younger players,
00:58:02and it didn't quite work out that way.
00:58:04And I think in the playoffs,
00:58:05they had too much responsibility on their top-level players.
00:58:08The Celtics shouldn't go through that issue,
00:58:10but I do think they need to upgrade.
00:58:12Like, the Celtics aren't going to just sit on their hands.
00:58:14Like, they're going to try to upgrade the bench.
00:58:16They're going to try to get better.
00:58:18And that's a good thing.
00:58:22As a Celtic fan, you want Brats to go out there and bring in a draft pick,
00:58:28figure out if any of these guys in the international
00:58:30that they have stashed away are ready,
00:58:33figure out what to do with Drew Peterson and J.D. Davidson,
00:58:37and then just add maybe another veteran.
00:58:40They could use another shooter, another...
00:58:42They could use some more scoring off the bench, you know.
00:58:45And now that they're a championship team,
00:58:48teams, they'll attract more players who just want to win a ring, right?
00:58:52Who will take less money to be in that championship culture.
00:58:56This is a good advertisement for them to get to that next level.
00:59:04And try to repeat, because players will be like,
00:59:07oh, OK, like Boston, OK.
00:59:10I've watched the whole Finals on TV.
00:59:14I've seen how they get down.
00:59:17Bunch of good guys there.
00:59:19So all that comes in, and they're like,
00:59:21shoot, I'll sign a one-year deal, try to win a chip.
00:59:25And the rest of the East, everybody's got questions.
00:59:28Is NB going to be completely healthy?
00:59:31Does Philadelphia, what do they do?
00:59:32Because they got a slot to bring in a free agent.
00:59:36Are the Knicks, are they going to be ready?
00:59:39You know, what about teams like Indiana?
00:59:41Are they going to take that step forward?
00:59:42Like, the South is still a favorite in the East,
00:59:45but they got to have that dog in them party all summer.
00:59:49When it gets down to like September,
00:59:54then you know what?
00:59:55Get your game face ready, get workouts ready,
00:59:59and try to go back to back.
01:00:03Facts.
01:00:05Well, that's a wrap on an amazing regular and postseason
01:00:10for the Celtics.
01:00:10We're not done.
01:00:12The podcast will continue.
01:00:13We have the draft to talk about free agency.
01:00:15Of course, I mentioned very early on in this episode
01:00:19the parade on Friday.
01:00:21Are either of you attending?
01:00:23Well, I imagine you're covering it in some capacity.
01:00:26I will not be attending.
01:00:28I will not be attending.
01:00:29Gary, are you covering it?
01:00:30Do you have to do anything?
01:00:31I mean.
01:00:32Yeah, I'm going to try.
01:00:33Yeah, yeah.
01:00:33I think I'm going to be out there.
01:00:34I will try to figure out.
01:00:35I'm still trying to figure out where I fit in in terms of.
01:00:37Are you going to be on a duck boat?
01:00:39I don't know.
01:00:41How do we get on a duck boat?
01:00:44It's changed since like when I was in Detroit,
01:00:48I was on a duck boat with Corliss.
01:00:50Yeah, I figured.
01:00:53With Corliss?
01:00:54No, with Corliss Williamson.
01:00:56Oh.
01:00:57Quick story, too.
01:00:58He was shaking hands with someone
01:01:00in the crowd on a duck boat or on the boat that was going.
01:01:04They didn't have duck boats in Detroit.
01:01:06And the woman who shook his hand took his wedding ring.
01:01:10And Corliss was just like, yo, she got my ring.
01:01:12I was like, I got you.
01:01:13I got off the boat that we were riding on, found a woman,
01:01:18got my dude's ring, got back on it.
01:01:20It's like, I got you, dog.
01:01:22You're real for that.
01:01:23I was a real one for that, man.
01:01:25That's real right there.
01:01:26That's my dude.
01:01:27That's my dude.
01:01:28But I don't think any media are doing a duck boat unless you
01:01:32work for the team or all that kind of stuff.
01:01:36We're going to find out.
01:01:37Which is too bad.
01:01:38Yeah, Gary will find out for us.
01:01:39Yeah, Gary loves it.
01:01:41Because if we see Gary in a duck boat getting a swerve
01:01:45on with Derek White, we'll be like, oh, OK, I guess they can.
01:01:49OK.
01:01:49We'll see.
01:01:51Him and Joe Mizzou, that's what I want to see.
01:01:52I want to see you and Joe Mizzou on the same boat.
01:01:54I want to be on the duck boat with Jalen's mother
01:01:57because this past weekend I did an event.
01:02:01And at the event, she had just floated from Dallas.
01:02:05And I was like, I'll see you this week.
01:02:08And she was like, yeah, I'll see you on a duck boat, which
01:02:10whatever we were talking.
01:02:11But then she was like, I've actually never been on a duck
01:02:14boat in Boston, which I was like, interesting tidbit.
01:02:17So this is going to be her first experience on a duck boat.
01:02:19And at that, it's on a championship level for the Boston period,
01:02:24which I was like, wow, I've been on one once before.
01:02:28I can't remember the context, to be honest, but it was OK.
01:02:31But riding through the city is different.
01:02:34So it is.
01:02:34It is.
01:02:35I've been on a couple.
01:02:36It's a cool experience.
01:02:38You got to do it at least one time in your life, especially
01:02:40if you're here in Boston.
01:02:42You got to do it at least once.
01:02:43Gary, you ever been on a duck boat, Gary?
01:02:45Yeah, I have done a duck boat tour.
01:02:47Yeah, we liked it.
01:02:48Okay.
01:02:48Yeah, it was like, it was cool.
01:02:49It was fun.
01:02:50Yeah.
01:02:51If you're watching and you haven't been on a duck boat in Boston,
01:02:53you should do it.
01:02:55Absolutely.
01:02:55Put on your bucket list for the summer.
01:02:58All right.
01:02:58Well, we'll be back next week on the Big Three NBA podcast for
01:03:02A-Tribe Blakely and Gary Washburn.
01:03:04I'm Kwani Lunas.
01:03:05Enjoy the parade and congratulations to the Boston Celtics.
