00:00Let's get started, though, with some Major League Baseball.
00:05We have plenty of action, by the way, going on today.
00:07Half a dozen games this afternoon because of the big game tonight in Birmingham and
00:11Alabama.
00:12They're going to feature that game tonight.
00:13But last night, the New York Yankees get a very effective start from Garrett Cole.
00:17It was his first start of the season.
00:19Final score of 7-6.
00:20Back and forth game in this one, 63 pitches.
00:23Very effective over the course of several innings.
00:25And now Cole probably more or less building up to a full go for the Yankees after the
00:30All-Star break.
00:31The Rangers snap the Mets' seven-game winning streak.
00:33It is over.
00:345-3 the final there.
00:36So we can finally put all this grimace stuff to rest.
00:40Mets lost a game, finally.
00:41And they had a nice winning streak and got right back in the playoff picture.
00:44But lost to the Rangers yesterday.
00:46Final score 5-3.
00:47Baltimore Orioles have some real thinking to do next month because they've lost yet
00:50another pitcher for the season.
00:52This time it's Kyle Braddus.
00:53They've also lost Wells.
00:54They've lost several other players.
00:56If the Orioles are going to have to make a run, probably going to have to do something
00:59and figure it out.
01:00And also not good news for Walker Buehler who was placed on the injured list as well.
01:05Buehler has not been good since coming back from Tommy John surgery.
01:07We'll see if we can get him right.
01:09But meanwhile, let's go back to Garrett Cole here for a minute.
01:12Naturally speaking, his first start of the season.
01:14Some analysis going into it.
01:16Aaron Boone said basically there was no way that he was going to allow Cole to throw more
01:21than 65 pitches in his first time out.
01:24With Garrett throwing 62 pitches, you had talked a little bit about accounting for adrenaline
01:28at this level, factoring that in.
01:30Was he trying to go any further or was he on board with that in the game plan?
01:34I think he was.
01:35Yeah, he knew we weren't going to go over 65 tonight with the jump up.
01:45And I think just with the night and the effort, I think he was probably a little fatigued
01:51there even after the fourth, but wanted to try and push through at least with a hitter
01:56and you know, let's up the single there to start it out.
02:01But yeah, we weren't going to go over 65 tonight.
02:05And then Cole could probably throw, I would guess 75 to 80 in his next time out, which
02:09will come.
02:10It looks like early next week.
02:12Meanwhile, Cole did speak after the game yesterday.
02:15First start of the season, naturally emotions, having his son sitting there waving to him.
02:19We saw that right before the game talked about how adrenaline played a factor in that
02:22start.
02:23Yeah, there was a there was a fair amount of adrenaline for sure, which is nice to have
02:28a few too many high fastballs with it.
02:33But for the most part, it was it was it was just a good jolt.
02:38Yeah.
02:39I mean, I thought I held up well.
02:44You know, I was certainly certainly I'm tired now.
02:48Certainly a different, a different, a different level just demands, you know, a higher level
02:57of focus and execution.
02:59And I felt like, you know, I definitely could keep making pitches, but, you know, it was
03:06it was strategic in the pitch count.
03:08And so in that regard, I think we executed it perfectly.
