Lexus customers have long asked for a three-row SUV that offers substantial space and seating without compromising the innovative technology, refined performance, and luxurious amenities they expect. The first-ever 2024 Lexus TX delivers a comfortable, yet dynamic way of moving up to seven people—whether that’s to football practice or a cabin for a weekend getaway.

For those seeking even more power and performance, the Lexus TX 500H features a 2.4L turbocharged Parallel Hybrid system that provides 366 total system horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission, integrated Power Control Unit, and a 64-kW motor. At the rear, a 76-kW eAxle consisting of an inverter and motor provides near-instantaneous power to the rear wheels. The TX 500h combines DIRECT4 and Dynamic Rear Steering, resulting in exhilarating acceleration and superb dynamic handling.

The nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery is mounted beneath the second row, yielding additional storage capacity and increased power to create the ultimate three-row thrill ride.

00:00This is the Lexus TX, and while it's not the first three-row SUV that Lexus has built,
00:06it's one that we've been waiting for because it's the first with a truly full-size third row
00:10that's perfect for daily use. Even though the TX has all-wheel drive, it's really more of a
00:16crossover style SUV, which means there's more interior space and the ride is more like a car
00:23and less like a truck. In introducing the TX, Lexus combined its new technology and the height
00:30of everything it's doing design-wise with everything it's learned from its Toyota division
00:36and what people really want in terms of conveniences and comforts in a minivan. The
00:41result is all Lexus. It's beautiful, it's well-designed, it's luxurious, and it's reliable.
00:48In the past, the spindle grille was a little aggressive and not everybody loved that, so they
00:52softened the look on the front of the Lexus TX. And the rear of the Lexus TX is distinct for the
00:58taillight bar and the Lexus name spelled across the tailgate. Many think the TX and the model
01:03name stands for Texas, which is where Lexus is headquartered in North America, but that's not
01:08true. I asked Lexus and they said, nope, it stands for third row. The Lexus TX comes in a number of
01:14trims from the 350 to the 550 plug-in electric hybrid. And true to Lexus engineering, customers
01:21can buy an all-gas engine or a hybrid, and then in that top model, that's a plug-in electric hybrid.
01:28We're driving the 500h, which is a hybrid, but it's actually a performance hybrid. It is an F-Sport
01:34performance, so it has all of the sport performance of the F-Series. It also has some of the F-Sport
01:40style details on the interior, and it is designed to really deliver a fun drive experience as well
01:48as that luxury and comfort for all your passengers. Because it's a hybrid, it does a little
01:52bit better in fuel economy. It averages about 27 mpg. The interior of the Lexus TX is filled with
01:59luxuries, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, lots of conveniences including air vents and USB
02:05ports for every passenger. But the real luxury is the configurability and the flexibility of the
02:12seating in this car. You can buy a version with center row captain's chairs that allows a pass
02:17through to the third row, which seats two, or you can buy a bench so you can seat seven passengers
02:23in total in the Lexus TX. Adding to that configurability are the slide and tilt center
02:28row seats. You can push a button and those seats will slide and tilt forward even with a child car
02:33seat installed for third row access. This is the brand new multimedia system from Lexus. It has Hey
02:41Lexus voice assistance. There are different settings here including the seat controls.
02:51Your drive modes are available only on the screen, so there's normal, sport, eco, and custom. You can
02:57set up your drive modes however you'd like. There are quick access functions here and
03:05climate there. Lexus has a subscription navigation service that will download current versions of
03:13maps and all of your search information. So even if you find yourself in a place without cell service,
03:19you'll still have the maps you need. The center console has been completely redesigned. There is a
03:25storage box here underneath the wireless phone charger
03:29and these little cup holders that can come out to be cleaned.
03:35And sport mode is really where
03:39drivers will have fun, even when they're passengers in the third row, because this
03:45really puts all 366 horsepower to work and gets that extra boost from that hybrid motor.
03:52Even though the Lexus TX is all-wheel drive, the focus of this SUV is really on-road fun
03:59and comfort. Lexus has other SUVs that are more focused on off-road. The Lexus TX was designed
04:07to appeal to families who want high style and great comfort in a luxury car, but also want that
04:13reliability that Lexus is known for. Their cars are known for going hundreds of thousands of miles.
