Please raise your hand if you've got a question, and we'll get the microphone to you.
00:04
Who would like to go first?
00:06
Go Simon and Peter here.
00:08
Microphone available?
00:11
Here in the front.
00:14
Thank you.
00:19
Hi, Jude, Simon, Peter and Pierre.
00:22
What was your overall takeaway of the performance?
00:25
Was it a case of the first half shows why England are among the favourites,
00:30
and the second half, what could be undone?
00:33
No, not quite, I don't agree with that.
00:36
I think the first half shows why we can score goals against any team,
00:40
and the second half shows why we can keep a clean sheet against any team.
00:44
Obviously commonly with the team there's a negative theme around all our games,
00:48
sometimes rightly so, but I think in this case you take the positives
00:51
from the fact that maybe we had to hold on at times and suffer a little bit,
00:55
but we kept a clean sheet, and when you keep a clean sheet all you have to do
00:58
is win the game, and it's three points.
01:00
I think this team is still so new, gelling together with every game,
01:03
so I think inside the changing room we'll be happy with that.
01:06
Of course there will be negatives that we want to rub out,
01:09
but overall I'm pleased with that performance.
01:12
Hi, Jude.
01:14
Can I just ask how special it is for you to score England's first goal of the tournament?
01:18
And can I also just ask the celebration with Trent,
01:21
whether there's a reason behind that?
01:25
It's obviously really special to score any time for England,
01:28
especially a match-winning goal and a goal that gives us points
01:31
and can contribute to us hopefully having a good tournament.
01:35
The celebration was from a game we played called Wolf,
01:38
and one of the staff always holds his face like that when he doesn't know what's going on,
01:42
so it was more celebration for the backroom staff who put in so much work every day.
01:47
They won't receive any awards like this or get to have the moments that we get to have on the pitch,
01:54
but we value them so much and it's important going through the tournament we keep that atmosphere.
01:58
OK, Eric Peters and then James Robson.
02:01
Hi, Jude. The fans celebrated you again with the Beatles song Hey Jude.
02:05
What does that mean to you and do you listen sometimes to the Beatles?
02:09
Or are you too young for them?
02:11
No, I like the Beatles, I listen to the Beatles a lot.
02:14
My style of music is a bit old, so that's right up my street.
02:17
But I really enjoy playing in front of the England fans.
02:20
I think it's a different experience for me because obviously I play abroad,
02:23
so when I can hear an English crowd for the first time every few months, I really enjoy it.
02:28
And obviously they give me a lot of appreciation, a lot of love,
02:31
and I try and give that back with my performances and my energy on the pitch.
02:34
OK, James Robson.
02:35
Hi, Jude, James Robson, Associated Press.
02:38
It seems like... It's English, yeah.
02:40
It seems like nothing phases you at all.
02:44
On the back of the season that you've had, obviously, with Real Madrid, couldn't have gone any better,
02:48
do you feel like nothing is beyond you?
02:51
No-one for a long, long time has led England to a major trophy.
02:56
I don't know.
02:57
I just enjoy playing football when it comes to each and every game.
03:00
I take it as a single game as opposed to looking too far into the future.
03:04
I realise that in every game I feel like I can make an impact.
03:07
I feel like I can decide games.
03:10
But that happens on any given game instead of looking too far into the future.
03:14
The truth is that I really enjoy playing football,
03:16
so when I go out there I play with a fearlessness because I love doing it so much.
03:20
It's a release for me.
03:22
It's my favourite thing to do in the world.
03:24
When I play out, it's not much of a job.
03:27
It feels like a pleasure.
03:29
OK, two more.
03:33
Hi, Jude, Jacob Steinberg from The Guardian.
03:35
You, Trent and Dec haven't played much together at all as a three.
03:39
How do you feel it worked and how was it with Trent?
03:42
Because he's not played in this role that much before.
03:44
I loved it.
03:45
I think we had a great balance with the ball, without the ball,
03:48
particularly in possession.
03:49
I thought Trent was brilliant.
03:50
He conducts games so well.
03:52
He's very calm on the ball.
03:54
His technique and quality is unmatched, I think,
03:57
in terms of what he can do with the ball.
03:59
And he's always positive, and that really helps someone like me
04:02
who wants to get on the ball all over the pitch
04:04
and try and attack their back line.
04:06
So I look forward to having more minutes with him,
04:10
enjoying how we can develop and how we can get used to each other's game,
04:13
and seeing how far we can take the potential.
04:17
And, of course, as always, Dec was fantastic.
04:19
I think he's one of the best in the world in that position, and he's a joy.
04:22
OK, last one.
04:23
Hi, Jude.
04:24
Fernando Calas from Reuters.
04:26
If you could go and reveal the goal that you scored,
04:31
because you started the play back in the centre circle, in the midfield.
04:37
So if you go to, again, you suffered five or six fouls in the first half.
04:42
It was a really rough game in the first half.
04:44
They went after you.
04:46
It was a good first half for you, so if you could go through that.
04:50
Yeah, I felt really confident coming into the game.
04:53
Couldn't wait to play at such an amazing tournament,
04:55
play with such an amazing group of players.
04:57
So I think you could see that I was enjoying my football.
05:00
I wanted to get on the ball, I wanted to make an impact,
05:02
take the game to them early, because I think I wanted to build an energy
05:06
from the fans and to get behind the team,
05:08
and when you're progressive it helps doing that.
05:11
Trying to be aggressive without the ball as well.
05:13
Yeah, I took a few kicks,
05:14
but I think it's something I've gotten used to over the last couple of years.
05:18
It's about trying to react the right way and not lose my head,
05:21
and I think I handled that well today.
05:23
Of course, the goal comes from a great movement between some great players.
05:28
Like I said, the more we play together,
05:31
we'll understand each other's movements more,
05:33
but those kind of magic moments where it comes together so naturally
05:36
is really nice.
05:37
I try to just keep making the box,
05:39
because I know players can find me and I know that I can deliver.
05:43
Yeah, brilliant goal, brilliant first half,
05:45
and ended up being really important for the three points.
05:47
OK, thanks very much.
05:49
Thank you all, good evening.
06:12
I'm sure it will be.
06:29
This is Joe Terry for uefa.com with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
06:32
Trent, good start.
06:33
First win in the tournament.
06:35
What's your reaction to that performance?
06:37
Happy, of course.
06:38
Got the win.
06:39
That was our objective,
06:41
as it's very important to start the tournament with a win.
06:48
That was our main aim.
06:50
Definitely don't lose the game,
06:52
but we know we have the quality to win.
06:55
We've got the players, the squad to win the game,
06:59
and we proved that today.
07:01
Very, very difficult game.
07:03
We had to earn it.
07:05
But those are the ones where afterwards,
07:07
when you feel like you've earned it,
07:09
they're the ones that feel even better.
07:11
We've earned this one today.
07:13
We've played well, we've created our chances.
