00:00Good afternoon, Prime Ministers. My name is Boon from Pernama. I have a question for Prime Minister Wong.

00:06How would you describe the current state of Singapore and Malaysia relations?

00:10Your approach to it and what are the top priority going into the annual retreat this year?

00:16Will it include the high-speed rail?

00:19Thank you. Thank you. I would say our bilateral ties are in very good shape and

00:25progressing very well, and there is potential for us to do even more together going forward.

00:31We are building, or I am building on a very strong foundation by my predecessors.

00:36Prime PM Ang Mo had a very good relationship with

00:39then PM Lee Hsien Loong, now Senior Minister, and I am building on that and continuing with that relationship at the leadership level.

00:47Whatever new ideas there are, we want to find ways in which we can really bring our two countries together.

00:54Because I believe there is a lot of potential for

00:58Malaysia and Singapore to provide the strong anchor for a more dynamic and

01:04competitive Southeast Asian region. Together we can make this happen.

01:10On the retreat, on the upcoming Leaders' Retreat,

01:12we hope to take stock of the progress of the discussions that have been going on.

01:16There are work streams and mechanisms that the officials on both sides are discussing,

01:21and we hope to take stock and see good progress being made.

01:26And of course, along the way, there may be new ideas that come up.

01:30We are open to hearing from Malaysia if there are proposals from the high-speed rail as well.

01:35And whatever the new ideas are, we will keep an open mind,

01:38and we will discuss it in the right spirit of taking our relationship forward.
