00:00 You can tell the season we're in, the political season, based upon what the Democrats and
00:08 the Senate are and are not spending their time and energy considering.
00:13 Clearly, the goal of Senate Democrats and Senator Schumer is to have a summer of show
00:19 votes.
00:21 We had one of those already on the border.
00:23 We're having one this week on contraception.
00:26 I'm sure there will be more votes like that to come.
00:29 None of which, I might add, have an objective of actually getting a result, getting an outcome,
00:33 or getting something signed into law.
00:36 They are purely and simply designed to give vulnerable Democrats political cover on issues
00:41 that they know that they are vulnerable on.
00:44 You can also see what they're not spending their time on, what we're not spending our
00:48 time on here in the Senate.
00:49 We're not spending our time on increasing energy production or making the permitting
00:56 process easier or streamlining it.
00:59 We are not spending our time, obviously, on reducing spending to combat and attack
01:05 inflation.
01:08 And those are the types of things that we ought to be probably arguably talking about.
01:13 Energy, the border, inflation, national security, issues like that.
01:18 That's not what the Democrats are interested in talking about, simply because it doesn't
01:22 suit their political purposes.
01:23 So we are in this period right now.
01:25 It's political season.
01:27 We know that, nothing more, nothing less.
01:30 And I expect we're going to have a lot more show votes this summer.
01:33 We believe that the Democrats ought to be talking about the issues that are important
01:37 to the American people.
01:38 And those are the cost of living.
01:40 The Democrats are the party of higher prices.
01:44 Joe Biden is the president of higher prices.
01:46 We ought to be talking about energy.
01:47 We ought to be talking about what we're going to do to secure the border and what we're
01:51 going to do to keep this country safe.
01:53 Those are the things the American people care about.
01:55 They are not on the Democrats' agenda.
