Chippy owners call for public support amid cost of living struggle

The nation is celebrating National Fish and Chip Day - and it's been shifted a day earlier this time around to coincide with the 80th D-Day.

00:19 they do and just give them that little bit more confidence and you'll certainly make

00:22 the day. But yeah, just encourage everybody to go out and visit the Fish and Chip Shop.

00:26 I'm not saying go every night, but if you're trying to do it at least once a week, maybe

00:30 twice a week, we do appreciate the customer and it'll help all these independent businesses

00:34 get through because people tend to complain more easily. The owner's there to be shot

00:40 at in an independent hospitality business, whereas one of the big chains they're not

00:44 and they work on numbers, they've got bigger marketing budgets and they've got more buying

00:47 power. These independents have to do everything. They've not got a marketing team, they haven't

00:50 got a complaints team, customer service team, everything falls on them. So just visit them

00:57 and let them know that you like what they do.
