Leeds City Guide: Summer 2024

Here are some summer shenanigans you can look forward to across Leeds.

00:00Your Leeds Summer 2024 guide begins by not passing go, not collecting £200 and going

00:07straight to jail. Well, hopefully not, but something you won't miss is the Monopoly Leeds

00:13Takeover, between the 27th of July and 1st of September. The first of its kind, citywide

00:19version of the board game will see key sections of the city colour coded into zones. Each

00:24will have a series of visual, mathematical and word puzzles to solve in a bid to buy

00:29back the city, and full details on the free, family-friendly fun will be online. With Leeds'

00:35links to Monopoly maker Waddingtons, there's also now a permanent display at Leeds City

00:40Museum focusing on the game. Football fans can follow England's hunt for

00:47glory as Millennium Square is set to host a Euro 2024 Fan Zone. The action will be

00:53shown live on the square's giant HD LED screen. There will of course be plenty of venues across

00:59the city showing the full tournament, with the final to be held on the 14th of July.

01:06The Leeds West Indian Carnival Parade will return on Monday the 26th of August, bringing

01:11the streets of Chapel Town and Hare Hills to life. As one of the biggest events in the

01:15Leeds calendar, you can expect costumes, dancing, food and entertainment aplenty, in Potter

01:21Newton Park and beyond. The New Look City Square is set to host an

01:28outdoor events programme throughout the summer. It will be home to Thor's Tepee Bar, a monthly

01:34artisan market and a selection of family-friendly activities, as well as a big screen showing

01:40some of the season's biggest sporting highlights. Leeds Pride will be held on Sunday the 21st

01:47of July this year. The parade will set off from outside Leeds Town Hall at 12 midday

01:53and will head to Lower Brigitte, where the festival will see the likes of Sonique, Louisa

01:57Johnson and a Madonna Tribute Act perform.

02:03Kirkstall Abbey is hosting a brand new outdoor comedy festival this year on Sunday the 28th

02:09of July. Katherine Ryan, Ross Noble, Maisie Adam and Reginald D Hunter are among the performers.

02:16Kirkstall Abbey is also home to the Leeds International Beer Festival between the 5th

02:20and 9th of September. As summer comes to a close, it will celebrate craft beer brewed

02:25in the UK and overseas.
