00:47 The fire started around 10.10 am on the 10th floor of the building.
00:51 Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Komal Chaubey reported that residents and locals quickly alerted
00:56 the fire service unit.
00:58 We immediately dispatched five water tenders to the scene.
01:00 However, the society's firefighting systems, including sprinklers, extinguishers and hoses,
01:05 managed to contain the fire within 10 minutes, said Chaubey.
01:09 The explosion in the air conditioner caused the fire, but thanks to the functioning firefighting
01:39 systems, it was confined to one room, preventing further damage.
01:43 Chaubey confirmed there were no injuries or loss of life in the incident.
01:48 The video from the incident went viral on social media, showing thick plumes of smoke
01:52 surrounding high-rise buildings in the Lotus Boulevard Society.
01:56 Witnesses said that people living in nearby apartments evacuated their flats as soon as
02:00 they witnessed the smoke and gathered in the common area of the society as a precautionary

02:11 due to electrical or mechanical failures, according to officials.
02:15 In a related development, the Delhi Fire Services received over 200 calls on Wednesday, including
02:19 183 fire-related incidents, the highest number this year.

02:47 We go to the fire-rescue teams and get other calls.
02:54 But the fire-related calls have increased.
02:56 This is related to summer.

03:02 Additionally, Delhi's peak power demand soared to 8,302 megawatts at 3.36 pm on Wednesday,
03:11 marking the highest ever recorded power demand in the city's history.
03:16 This peak surpassed the previous record of 8,000 megawatts set on May 22.
03:20 This comes a day after Delhi's Mungeshpur weather station reported a record-breaking
03:24 temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius.
03:27 However, the weather department and Union Minister Kiran Rajju stated that the reading
03:32 would be examined for potential errors or local anomalies.
03:36 The Sabdarjung Observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, recorded a maximum temperature
03:41 of 46.8 degrees Celsius, the highest in 79 years and the second-highest ever, following
03:47 the 46.7 degrees Celsius recorded on June 17, 1945.
03:52 Rohtak and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh also recorded extreme temperatures of 48.8 degrees
03:57 Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
