A Wakefield homeowner has told of his shock after watching a suspected meteorite burst through the sky and land next to his property.

00:00 It was early on bank holiday, Monday, the 6th of May, and I was outside, looked up in the sky,

00:06 and I saw a bright light. I thought originally that might be a firework. I was even looking

00:16 for the stick at the back of it, but no it wasn't. It came straight down, then it had a green hue

00:22 around it. What I distinctly remember is the burning sound. I thought, well that's strange.

00:31 I looked it up, googled it, meteorite storms, and they said basically it's part of, it could be a

00:39 meteorite storm from Haley's Comet, which comes over every, I don't know how many years. And that

00:47 was it really. So yeah, I saw it come fall behind my house in Outwood, and I thought I'd go have a

00:56 little look for it. So the next day I went to the adjacent street and I found this in the road,

01:04 picked it up, it was warm, it smelt burnt, and it's got a bit of weight to it as well.
