‘He’s desperate!’: Londoners on Rishi Sunak’s proposed national service policy

We ask Londoners what they think about national service after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he would introduce it if he was re-elected on July 4.

00:05Well I tend to think that anything Rishi Sunak says is something I'm not interested in for a start

00:12and why is he saying it now? Because he's desperate, that's how I think. If you want

00:18to know what I think about National Service, my gut instinct is against it. However I would hear

00:26arguments for it, I would listen to arguments for it, but essentially I'm against any kind of

00:33compulsory. I think it's a good idea. Anything anybody can do to give back a little bit.

00:38If you have time, inclination, ability, we all have an obligation to ourselves, our country,

00:45our fellow people to do a little bit more than what we are. I think the pandemic kind of led to

00:51a centering, like a bringing back in. I think that might help to push people back out.
