00:04 The Minister of Transport, Lu Zhaofu, announced that from October 1st,

00:08 all foreign vehicles entering Myanmar from Singapore must have a foreign vehicle entry certificate, VEP,

00:16 to ensure that foreign car owners follow traffic rules.

00:19 Lu Zhaofu revealed that once the VEP measure is in effect,

00:21 any foreign car owners who drive a vehicle without a VEP label in Myanmar will be considered a criminal offence.

00:30 Once convicted, they can be fined less than RMB2000 or imprisoned for less than six months under the Lulu Traffic Law.

00:37 In addition, the Lulu Traffic Authority also has the right to ban any foreign cars entering Myanmar without a VEP.

00:43 If a foreign car owner does not follow traffic rules in Myanmar,

00:46 he must pay a fine to be allowed to enter Myanmar.

01:28 After a five-year purchase, the authorities will send the label to foreign car owners.

01:33 Lu Zhaofu also revealed that only a few Singaporean car owners have applied for a VEP certificate.

01:39 According to the current record, only about 70,000 Singaporean registered motorists have registered and activated the VEP tag,
