PM: Targeted subsidies fairer and better meet people's needs than new taxes

Malaysian youth should fully understand the government's objectives behind the rationalisation of fuel and electricity subsidies, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In his speech at the National Youth Day celebration in Melaka on Saturday (May 25), the Prime Minister also highlighted that 85 percent of Malaysians were unaffected by the government's decision to increase the electricity tariff, clarifying that the impact was limited to multinational corporations and large export-oriented companies.
