00:04 chicken strips that'll have your favorite takeout chain running for the hills.

00:08 These are the crispiest, juiciest, chicken tenderiest chicken strips that I've ever made,

00:14 and it's all in just five ingredients in just a few steps.

00:17 The important thing about this recipe is to note that these are fried chicken strips.

00:20 These are not fried chicken tenders.

00:23 The main difference being they have a different shape.

00:25 Whereas chicken tenders are a little bit round and more plump, chicken strips are a little

00:29 bit flatter and closer to like a chicken cutlet.

00:32 It's kind of like a small chicken cutlet basically.

00:34 Don't overcomplicate this part.

00:35 I'm literally just going to cut these into about half inch pieces.

00:41 You can see how this is a little bit wider than it is thick, and that's the shape that

00:44 we're going for.

00:45 I promised these fried chicken strips would be super simple, and I'm gonna deliver on

00:49 that promise.

00:50 This part is really the only bit of effort that you have to do for this whole recipe

00:53 other than frying, and it's called standard breading procedure.

00:57 That's just a fancy term for the standard way of breading things that are gonna be fried.

01:02 That usually means a dunk in some flour, then a dip in some egg, then a dip in whatever

01:06 kind of bread crumbs you're using, and then into the oil.

01:09 To add a little bit of flavor to our standard breading procedure process, I'm gonna whisk

01:14 a little bit of garlic powder into our eggs, and then I'm also gonna season up our bread

01:20 crumbs with just a little bit of salt and pepper so that we don't have bland chicken

01:24 strips 'cause nobody likes bland chicken strips.

01:28 Another great thing to remember is that you can get bread crumbs that come pre-seasoned.

01:32 These are actually Italian bread crumbs, so that means they have a little bit of cheese

01:35 and a few herbs in them.

01:37 That'll just crank these up just a little bit.

01:39 Standard breading procedure is as follows.

01:41 You take your item to be fried, in this case chicken strips, go into the flour, give it

01:47 a little pat just to make sure it's fully coated in flour, and flip it so you get all

01:51 the sides.

01:52 Then you're gonna go into your beaten eggs.

01:56 Again, give it a little tap just to make sure you're getting a full coating of egg on here.

02:02 Bald spots are not your friend when you're frying things.

02:05 And then from the egg, we're gonna go to the bread crumb, give it another little tap to

02:10 make sure everything's adhering properly, and then you've got a fully coated and ready

02:15 to fry chicken strip.

02:16 When it comes to deep frying, I love to use cast iron.

02:19 This pot is enameled cast iron, but what cast iron does is it holds heat very, very well.

02:24 So if I add a few chicken tenders, the heat's gonna drop a little bit, but it's not gonna

02:27 be nearly as drastic as it would be if I were using a different kind of pot.

02:32 Our oil's at about 325 degrees, which we temp with a deep fry thermometer.

02:36 I'm gonna drop these chicken strips in just a few at a time so we're not overcrowding

02:40 the pot, and they should cook for about five minutes each.

02:47 Look at this end result, y'all.

02:52 Look how crispy.

02:53 You can hear the crisp.

02:56 I'm so excited to crunch into these, but before I do that, I am a ketchup girl with my chicken

03:02 So, give it a little dunk.

03:10 You are not getting this level of crunch from your takeout spot, I guarantee you.

03:14 This is giving me high school cafeteria, amusement park, this is giving me bowling alley.

03:21 These chicken strips just make me feel so cozy.

03:23 They kind of taste like home, as whack as that might sound.

03:27 It's just the truth, and they're packed with flavor.

03:29 Usually after I fry stuff, I have to sprinkle it with a little bit of salt, but these were

03:32 well seasoned from the junk.

03:34 So we seasoned that breadcrumb mixture, we seasoned the egg with that garlic powder,

03:37 and those both took this a really, really long way because these, they don't need anything

03:42 else.

03:43 These are the kind of thing that you can make a ton of and then freeze them and have them

03:46 for a late night snack.

03:47 It's great for an after school snack.

03:49 You can pair it with whatever dip you want.

03:50 Like I said, I'm ketchup all the way.

03:53 These are great with ranch, honey mustard, whatever like thousand island dressing you

03:57 have in your refrigerator.

03:59 Chicken strips are a great dip vehicle, so don't be shy about that part.
