Israeli officials seized a camera and broadcasting equipment belonging to The Associated Press in southern Israel on Tuesday, accusing the news organization of violating a new media law by providing images to Al Jazeera.
Transcript
00:00 We at the Associated Press decry in the strongest terms the actions of the Israeli government,
00:13 which has shut down our longstanding live feed showing a view into Gaza and seized AP
00:17 equipment.
00:18 This shutdown was not based on the content of the feed, but rather an abusive use by
00:23 the Israeli government of the country's new foreign broadcaster law.
00:26 The live shot has generally shown smoke rising over Gaza.
00:30 We comply with Israel's rules prohibiting broadcasts of details like troop movements
00:34 that could endanger soldiers.
00:37 We urge the Israeli government to return our equipment and enable us to reinstate our live
00:41 feed immediately so we can continue to provide this important visual journalism to thousands
00:47 of media outlets around the world.
