20 years ago, Sunderland fans, businesses and former players joined forces in a campaign to build a statue in memory of Bob Stokoe

00:07 Bob Stokoe was the legendary manager who led SAFC to FA Cup glory in 1973.

00:15 Weerside mourned his passing in 2004 when an appeal was launched to build a statue for

00:20 Stokoe and it gathered momentum with fans, businesses and former players all joining

00:28 There was a website, a business taking calls, a designer for the statue and pubs taking

00:35 money.

00:36 It all led to a massive outpouring of support in memory of Bob and in 2006 the finished

00:43 statue was unveiled.

00:44 It's a part of our past and our present and thank you to everyone who made it happen.
