00:27 Special not only because it's me hosting it

00:38 It is powered by GameTime.
00:41 GameTime is the official ticket buying app
00:46 of the CLNS Media Network.
00:47 And before we get into it,
00:48 I do wanna talk a little bit about GameTime
00:50 because yes, it's football season,
00:52 but we also have Celtics,
00:54 we also have Bruins going on right now.
00:56 And I kinda wanna get to a game.
00:58 And frankly, if we didn't have to do
01:01 this Patriots thing right now,
01:03 I probably would have been on GameTime
01:05 trying to get to the Celtics game tonight.
01:06 It's super easy.
01:07 I think I was looking before Taylor,
01:09 Red Sox tickets for tomorrow, $14 on GameTime.
01:14 Bruins tickets for Friday night, 181 bucks.
01:18 And that's right now.
01:19 They go down even more once you get closer to the GameTime.
01:24 So make sure to go download GameTime.
01:27 It's super easy.
01:28 It's the authorized ticket marketplace of the NBA.

02:01 Last minute tickets, lowest price guaranteed.
02:05 So that's GameTime.
02:07 The sponsor for this special edition Patriots Daily Show,
02:10 but we gotta get to it now.
02:11 I'm talking about Bryce, you're talking about GameTime.
02:19 It's got a release show.
02:20 The schedule's out, Taylor.
02:22 We just saw it.
02:23 It was launched eight o'clock
02:24 and the Patriots, as every NFL team does across the NFL,
02:29 released it with a special Boston movie edition video,
02:35 Good Will Hunting, The Town.
02:38 So before we get into the actual schedule
02:40 and our friend Evan Lazar was in it too.
02:41 So what did you think about the release
02:44 of the Patriots schedule tonight?
02:46 - This is the best one they've done in a while.
02:48 I know, was it last year where they had all the like players
02:51 and everything and it was like the Patriots house
02:53 or whatever?
02:54 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:54 - They started stepping up their game,
02:56 but I think maybe I'm just partial because Evan was in it.
03:00 And I literally was just like, oh my God.
03:02 I felt like I was in it.
03:03 That was pretty fantastic.
03:05 And the fact that he was literally in frame
03:07 with Gronk and Jules was really, really cool.
03:10 But yeah, I liked the whole style of it.
03:12 Really the team, like I said, they stepped their game up.
03:14 I'm excited to see next year.
03:16 Look, such a greedy consumer.
03:17 I'm already looking to next year.
03:19 - Oh, right.
03:20 - But yeah, I'm not gonna tell you about this one.
03:21 - And they also had the, so they did the Goodwill hunting
03:24 with Jules making the schedule thing.
03:26 And then they do the shout out to the town
03:27 where they have the robbers come in
03:29 and the costumes, whatever.
03:30 And it was Marcus Jones, it was David Andrews.
03:32 I couldn't tell who else was there,
03:33 but security guard Brian was there in the SUV as well.
03:38 And I just thought that was so awesome.
03:40 They like, these have been great
03:42 for the last couple of years.
03:44 You mentioned last seasons where they did
03:46 like the retirement house where it was a bunch of players
03:49 who had already gone
03:50 and it wasn't anybody on the team.
03:52 Where this one, it was like Gerard Mayo was involved.
03:54 - Yeah. - That was awesome.
03:56 - Like current players were involved
03:57 and I thought that part was super cool too.
03:59 So they had a lot of fun with it.
04:01 And again, the NFL has turned this
04:03 into like a complete party.
04:04 Like you said, you tweeted it,
04:06 that it's like, it should be a national holiday.
04:08 So it's fun and it's interesting how each team does it,
04:12 but the Patriots kind of, they kicked ass with this one.
04:14 So the schedule is out.
04:17 So Taylor, let's pull it up
04:19 and let's walk through this a little bit.
04:21 'Cause I wanna get your first impression sort of
04:24 of what the schedule looks like,
04:26 because a late buy as we see,
04:28 it's the week 14 buy the Patriots have.
04:31 They start off with the Bengals
04:33 with what we presume is gonna be a healthy Joe Burrow.
04:36 So starting off against one of the best quarterbacks
04:38 in football, you also are on the road
04:42 for three out of your first four games.
04:45 Then you come home to the Miami Dolphins
04:47 who have had your number the last couple of seasons.
04:49 So initial reaction just to the schedule as a whole,
04:52 especially the top part where again,
04:54 it's tough that they're traveling a lot to start the season.
04:57 - Yeah, the travel and just the quality of opponent.
04:59 Like that's a really brutal way to start the season
05:02 against perennial contender in the Bengals,
05:04 obviously whenever Burrow's healthy.
05:06 The Seahawks are a well-balanced team
05:08 with a ton of talent, obviously.
05:10 They're moving on with Mike McDonald,
05:12 no longer with Pete Carroll, but all the success he's had.
05:15 There may be some speed bumps,
05:16 but you'd expect that he's gonna have his guys
05:18 ready to play.
05:19 The Jets, this is gonna be early in the season
05:21 when if the Jets are gonna be healthy,
05:23 it's more likely to be then as of what's going on right now.
05:26 So they're gonna be tough.
05:28 Frankly, I think they're probably gonna lose every game
05:30 in the first month of the season.
05:32 It'd be genuinely crazy, I think,
05:34 if they won any of those games where you start thinking,
05:37 all right, maybe there's a little something to this team.
05:39 And then I think Miami's winnable.
05:42 The Texans though are another really tough game.
05:44 That's one of the best, I think, all-around teams
05:46 in football.
05:47 There are some winnable games in the middle
05:49 that I think will help them get back on track,
05:51 start clawing their way back.
05:52 The Rams, juggernaut, one of those teams where,
05:55 usually with Bill Belichick,
05:57 you don't really ever count the Patriots out of games.
06:00 You're not like, oh, they're probably gonna lose
06:02 that one pretty badly regardless.
06:04 The Rams, I think the Niners, the Texans,
06:09 I'd say maybe once the Bills,
06:11 those are games where you could see them
06:13 losing pretty badly.
06:14 - Yeah, right.
06:15 - (indistinct) like that's tough.
06:17 Then again, I think they have some winnable games
06:20 towards the end.
06:20 There's a lot of opponents here who,
06:22 like I think of the Chargers and the Jaguars
06:25 where the Patriots have had,
06:27 I mean, they've only played Trevor Lawrence once.
06:28 I don't wanna say they've got his number,
06:30 but they've had success against him.
06:31 You're like, okay, they could replicate that.
06:33 And then the bye week, week 14,
06:35 the latest it could possibly be.
06:37 That seems like a pretty obvious signal
06:39 that if Drake Mays is gonna start at any point,
06:42 you'd hope it's in the middle.
06:43 So you get like Caleb Williams and Drake May action,
06:44 something cool like that.
06:45 - Yeah, right.
06:46 - But at the same time,
06:47 it's most likely he's probably gonna come in
06:50 towards the later part of the season
06:52 where if you're the pessimist,
06:53 you're thinking at that point,
06:54 the Patriots have no reason to play.
06:56 You wanna see what your young guys have.
06:57 So I think the late bye week makes sense.
06:59 It is absolutely brutal,
07:01 especially considering week seven,
07:02 they're going to London.
07:04 I'm trying to see.
07:05 They also are gonna end up going to the West Coast
07:09 at different parts of the year.
07:11 We don't often see that where typically the West Coast-
07:13 - And the rumor was, Taylor, sorry to cut you off.
07:16 The rumor was that they requested to get them
07:19 on the same, the back-to-back weekend
07:20 so they could stay out there.
07:21 They tried to talk to the league about that.
07:23 And of course they denied it.
07:24 'Cause again, as you see, they go out again twice.
07:27 - Except we're like, oh, this is not Bill Belichick.
07:29 Oh, you're not getting anything.
07:30 - Right, seriously.
07:32 - At least they're like at different points of the year
07:34 where it doesn't, it's just not part of that same,
07:36 you know, brutal stretch.
07:37 But yeah, the beginning of the season is not easy.
07:40 You're hoping that they're anywhere near 500 at that point.
07:44 Again, most likely I understand
07:46 they're probably gonna be well below that,
07:48 but we're gonna do our schedule predictions.
07:50 I think there's a chance for this team to maybe be 500,
07:53 or not 500, you can't do that.
07:55 I keep forgetting.
07:56 I wrote down, there is no 500 anymore,
07:59 but I think they could kind of teeter towards
08:01 a one-or-one-legged game, or maybe one game.
08:03 I think they could be a sneaky playoff contender.
08:05 As I've said, if the young players,
08:07 you end up contributing.
08:08 And then the Bills, two out of three weeks,
08:11 just, this feels like the schedule of a team
08:14 with a rookie head coach.
08:15 They did not get any breaks.
08:17 Even the middle has some real like gut punches.
08:19 So this is a tough schedule.
08:22 Again, I think that they could pull out more games
08:24 than people might expect, but it's really brutal.
08:27 - So I'm not as optimistic as you.
08:31 And I think it has a little bit to do with last year for me.
08:36 And the fact that when the schedule came out for me,
08:38 I predicted they would go like 10 and seven,
08:40 and fight for the playoffs, and be there,
08:43 and have a little bit of success.
08:45 And they just completely crumbled last year with,
08:48 again, the schedule was what it was last year,
08:49 but this looks even harder to me.
08:51 Now, again, you can't really use last year to determine it.
08:54 I just think I'm scarred a little bit by it, right?
08:56 But I look at some of the, you know,
08:59 first of all, they start with Joe Barrow.
09:02 They go and they play against, again,
09:04 I guess Gino Smith is not top tier,
09:06 but then you got Aaron Rodgers, the Niners,
09:10 and then Tua, and then CJ Stroud, Trevor Long.
09:12 Like you're playing against elite quarterbacks,
09:14 and teams that have hovered around the postseason
09:17 for the last couple of years to start the season.
09:20 And then I'm thinking really of like places where
09:24 you can fit Drake May in,
09:26 and you can turn the team over to Drake May,
09:27 because this isn't a 2024 Patriots team.
09:33 This is a Patriots that are kind of playing for 2025.
09:35 So you want to see what you have in the kid.
09:37 You want to see what's going on with Drake May.
09:38 Now, could they, like you said,
09:39 win a couple of games, contend to the playoffs?
09:41 Sure, why not?
09:42 But I don't think that's really, you know,
09:45 if you gave them truth serum, they wouldn't tell,
09:46 like, you know, they would tell you
09:47 that their goal isn't really the playoffs.
09:49 Their goal is to just, you know, contend, build,
09:51 and, you know, have some fun,
09:52 and see what they have going on with their quarterback.
09:53 So looking at those-
09:55 - They've acknowledged that this is kind of a weird year
09:57 for them where they're not,
09:58 but they've said it as much as you can say,
10:00 we're not making the playoffs.
10:01 So yeah, you're right, you're right.
10:02 - So, yeah, and the reason I say that
10:05 is 'cause we're more still looking at,
10:06 let's find a spot where Drake May can easily fit in.
10:09 And I don't really see it off the bat.
10:11 Like, if you think the mini bye
10:13 after Thursday night football, that's week three.
10:15 You look at the late bye, first of all,
10:17 that only gives you four NFL starts, you know,
10:21 to get your feet wet, quote unquote,
10:23 and then you got to go into next season.
10:24 And two of them are against the Bills,
10:26 who are one of the best teams,
10:28 or have, you know, historically, last couple of seasons,
10:30 been one of the best teams in football.
10:32 You got to play them twice.
10:33 Chargers, Cardinals, okay.
10:35 But that doesn't really do it for you.
10:38 Now, you can, you know,
10:40 it doesn't have to be a bye week
10:41 when you put the rookie in, right?
10:42 You can give him the end of a game where, you know,
10:45 maybe Jacoby struggles, you bench him,
10:47 and then you put Drake May in the end of the game,
10:49 and then you give him the week, and then you run, right?
10:51 But they kind of look for that sweet spot,
10:53 and it doesn't really look like
10:54 there are many sweet spots in this schedule.
10:57 What do you think about the possibility
10:58 of Drake May playing this season, if at all,
11:00 and where it would make sense?
11:01 Because I also think that the NFL
11:03 would like Drake May versus Caleb Williams in week 10.
11:05 I just don't see if that's,
11:06 I don't know if that's actually gonna happen.
11:09 - Yeah, and I think that's probably why
11:10 it's the game that's kind of right past
11:12 the midpoint of the season,
11:13 where, you know, there's two kind of factors there,
11:16 where it's like, okay, if they are on a time frame,
11:18 and it's halfway through, then we got it there.
11:20 If it's kind of more three quarters of the way through,
11:22 then we've got another backup playing
11:23 where it makes sense for Drake May
11:25 to kind of enter the lineup,
11:26 and then we get some good football.
11:27 Like, I don't think it's a coincidence
11:28 that the Chargers and the Bills,
11:30 games with players that he's been compared to,
11:33 and according to Bill Belichick,
11:35 he compared himself to Josh Allen.
11:36 That wasn't totally true.
11:38 But honestly, I'm kind of working my way through this now.
11:40 I've been thinking about it,
11:41 but that doesn't seem like a coincidence,
11:43 that the Chargers and the Bills, twice the Bills,
11:46 are playing in a time frame
11:48 where you could possibly have Drake May.
11:50 I keep almost in my head saying Justin Herbert,
11:52 just 'cause, like, your stature says so.
11:54 But yeah, that does make a lot of sense.
11:56 And then even with, like, Matthew Stafford,
11:59 Anthony Richardson, Kyler Murray,
12:01 like, those are quarterbacks that have really big arms
12:04 and, like, big playability
12:05 where those could turn into potentially shootouts.
12:07 I don't think the Patriots
12:08 are gonna get into a lot of shootouts,
12:09 'cause I think their defense is good enough
12:10 that they should hold their own against everyone,
12:13 but maybe, like, the Seahawks, the Rams, and the Niners,
12:16 where they just have such a proven track record of success,
12:19 you can't really predict
12:20 that you're gonna really hold those guys under the water.
12:24 But my opinion on Drake May starting,
12:27 I don't think it's a time frame thing.
12:29 I do think you'd like him to come in
12:30 at some point in the season
12:31 so that you can advertise to free agents,
12:33 "Hey, this is what our young core looks like,"
12:35 'cause I do think the skilled position players,
12:37 maybe even one or two of the offensive linemen
12:38 that have been drafted,
12:39 will work their way into the rotation,
12:41 if not end up being starters.
12:43 But I think with Drake,
12:44 it just comes down to when he's ready.
12:46 I don't think they're gonna be like,
12:47 "All right, Drake, it has to be by midseason.
12:49 "It has to be by then."
12:50 'Cause the whole point is
12:51 you don't wanna put a lot on his plate.
12:52 They keep saying Jacoby Brissette
12:54 is a starting quarterback in this league.
12:55 Frankly, I think if Jacoby ends up keeping the job,
12:58 it could be because he's playing so well,
13:00 instead of going the Browns route,
13:02 where he gets you within an earshot of the playoffs,
13:05 and then you put in a guy who's way worse,
13:07 and then your offense and your team take a step back.
13:09 I think with this defense,
13:11 with the solid veterans they have,
13:13 if you do get contributions from the young guys,
13:16 Jacoby Brissette can make this work.
13:17 He'll make some mistakes.
13:18 There's gonna be some,
13:19 like you definitely saw
13:20 when he was starting with the Browns,
13:21 there were some bad turnovers,
13:23 like when he was trying to win them games.
13:25 That's gonna happen.
13:26 But I think the defense is good enough,
13:28 and Jacoby Brissette is experienced and talented enough
13:31 that this can be a competitive team.
13:33 But getting back to Drake specifically,
13:37 I just think if there's a day in practice
13:39 or a string of practices where they're looking,
13:41 and they're like, "We can't have this guy
13:44 "taking the second reps,"
13:45 or on the practice squad,
13:47 like he's playing lights out,
13:48 and you're seeing a difference between him and Jacoby,
13:50 where you're like, "Hey, Jacoby's more experienced,
13:52 "but this kid opens up the playbook for us.
13:54 "We should probably get him in there
13:56 "because I don't think there's much more
13:58 "for him to benefit on the sidelines."
13:59 So yeah, I don't think it's, oh, by this date,
14:02 I think it's just gonna be on Drake-May's timetable.
14:06 And again, I think that if Jacoby
14:07 does end up playing most of the season,
14:09 I could see this team, once again,
14:11 being around that 500-ish mark
14:13 that doesn't exist at the end of the season.
14:16 - Yeah, right.
14:17 So looking at it too,
14:19 don't they usually,
14:20 like I keep seeing on Twitter,
14:21 the Patriots got screwed.
14:23 More than I'm thinking about it,
14:24 they kinda got screwed.
14:25 Like they kinda got, like you said,
14:27 rookie coach short under the stick schedule here.
14:29 Like again, playing the Bills twice down the stretch
14:32 where that's where you're trying to get
14:34 in some momentum into next season,
14:35 and you potentially lose two out of your last three.
14:39 And then I'm looking too,
14:40 don't teams usually get a bye after their London trip?
14:43 And the Patriots just--
14:44 - Yeah, I think all of these are supposed to be
14:45 a three-week consideration period
14:47 where you got a bye week.
14:50 That's crazy.
14:51 - Yeah.
14:52 - They're going to San Francisco,
14:54 then less than a month later,
14:56 you're going to London.
14:57 - Yeah.
14:58 - That's kinda ridiculous,
14:59 if I'm being totally honest.
15:01 - I know.
15:01 You go to London,
15:02 and then you come back for a week,
15:04 and then you go to Tennessee,
15:06 and then Chicago.
15:07 Like, granted, those aren't huge road trips,
15:09 but they're still road games.
15:10 - And there's also a lot of back and forth.
15:13 There's not a lot of consecutive.
15:14 So yeah, so there's
15:17 one string of consecutive home games,
15:19 two strings of consecutive home games.
15:22 - Yeah, that's crazy.
15:23 - They gave them no favors.
15:25 - The Pats got screwed.
15:26 - And using his tenure to get what he wants.
15:29 Like, screw that.
15:30 You're getting what we give you,
15:32 and you're not going to complain.
15:33 Yeah, man.
15:34 This is, I don't know.
15:35 I don't see a lot to be happy about with this schedule,
15:37 to be very honest.
15:38 - Yeah, me either.
15:39 - And especially at the beginning of the year,
15:41 they usually get the cupcakes
15:42 because it's like, all right,
15:43 there's still,
15:44 Patriots are going to be figuring things out
15:46 early on in the season.
15:47 We don't want to put them too far behind
15:49 because they're a popular team.
15:51 We want them in the playoffs,
15:52 or in primetime.
15:53 Speaking of which,
15:55 one primetime game.
15:56 And it's-
15:57 - Yeah, that's right.
15:58 And it's Thursday night.
16:00 It's not even,
16:00 do you consider that primetime?
16:01 Like, yeah, it's primetime.
16:02 - Oh, right.
16:03 I'm sorry, not in London.
16:04 I don't know why I consider it Thursday night.
16:05 Yeah.
16:06 - Oh, yeah.
16:07 So, well, London-
16:09 - It's 530.
16:09 To be fair, there's no way anyone considers that primetime.
16:13 - It's standalone.
16:14 We'll call it a standalone game.
16:15 That makes more sense.
16:16 Yeah, so two standalone games.
16:18 One of them is Thursday night that every team has to do.
16:20 And the other one is a London game
16:22 that half the league doesn't really care about.
16:24 And they kind of throw some BS games out there anyway.
16:26 So, yeah, it's a tough one.
16:30 It really is.
16:31 That first stretch is tough, man.
16:34 Like, man, I'm serious.
16:36 I look at the first nine games
16:38 and I don't see a definite win.
16:42 - No, no definite for sure.
16:43 - No definite.
16:44 So, all right.
16:45 - I'm talking about the Titans because of Will Levis.
16:47 But that's-
16:48 - Yeah, I know.
16:48 All right, so before we hear from our friends at PrizePix
16:52 and before we get into our schedule prediction,
16:55 what is one definite win on the schedule for you?
17:00 And what is one definite loss
17:03 for the Patriots on the schedule for you?
17:05 - Definite loss, I got to say at the Bengals.
17:08 That's just brutal.
17:09 - Yeah, okay.
17:10 - First week of the season,
17:11 you're playing one of the most talented teams
17:12 in football all around.
17:13 Like that and the 49ers, like kind of lumped together.
17:16 It's like, you're on the road
17:17 against two of the best teams in the NFL.
17:19 That's brutal.
17:20 Definite win?
17:21 I'm going to say the, oh my gosh.
17:28 This is really tough, man.
17:29 - I know, it's really tough.
17:31 - There's none.
17:32 I would say if I had to have one, it's got to be the Titans.
17:34 Just because like Will Levis doesn't scare you that much.
17:36 They have good veteran receivers,
17:39 but also like you're hoping if your young guys
17:41 maybe come to play, they can be competitive.
17:43 Oh my God.
17:44 When you ask, it really puts it into perspective.
17:46 - I know.
17:47 - I think they have one.
17:49 - I think my definite win,
17:52 my definite loss is at San Francisco week four.
17:57 They're going to get spanked out in San Francisco week four.
18:00 I'm sorry.
18:00 There's just no way they win that game.
18:02 It's back to back road games.
18:04 Granted it's the mini bye, but I don't know.
18:06 I don't see that one going their way at all.
18:08 Definite win?
18:11 - Man, you might call me crazy,
18:15 but I think they're going to beat Seattle week two at home.
18:18 - Okay.
18:19 - I just-
18:19 - That's a little crazy for sure.
18:21 - It's definitely crazy, but looking at everything else.
18:24 - And to be fair, the Browns,
18:26 I will give you this.
18:28 The Browns last year against the Seahawks,
18:31 the script they had in that game was crazy.
18:34 Like they came very close to beating the Seahawks in Seattle.
18:38 Like remember that double pump fake?
18:40 At the end of the middle of the field
18:41 that San Francisco had,
18:42 they used that against the Seahawks and scored a touchdown.
18:45 Like some of the stuff that Van Pelt or Stefanski,
18:48 whoever was putting things together,
18:49 whoever was pulling that together
18:51 was like really in their bag.
18:53 So I will give you that.
18:55 There is the potential that that familiarity
18:57 will work in the Brown state.
18:58 But again, it's also a new coaching staff.
19:00 McDonald is there, so who knows?
19:02 - All right.
19:03 I'm actually going to switch it to the Colts at home,
19:06 December 1st, right before the bye week.
19:09 The Patriots win that game.
19:10 The Patriots always beat the Colts.
19:12 - With a healthy Anthony Richardson though.
19:15 And A.D. Mitchell and like Michael Pittman Jr.
19:19 and Josh Downs.
19:20 Like-
19:21 - So what's more winnable, Seattle or Indy?
19:24 - Because those are my two winnable winning games.
19:30 - Will be healthier that, you know,
19:31 he's going to be playing to the level
19:33 that you expected him.
19:34 - Right.
19:34 - But it's really just because I'm uncertain.
19:35 Like also Indy's defense isn't as good.
19:37 - I know.
19:38 That's not a lot of wins.
19:39 - Yeah.
19:40 That's probably more likely.
19:41 Because I like the Seahawks defense.
19:42 Like those corners.
19:43 And that defensive line is ridiculous.
19:46 - Yeah, that's true.
19:47 So, all right.
19:47 - Jeez.
19:48 - I know, that's our one win, one loss.
19:50 We're going to get into the full prediction.
19:51 The whole thing, we're going to go through each game.
19:53 Me and Taylor are going to have our predictions.

21:04 - Now we move on to the not so fun part.
21:07 And that is the schedule prediction.
21:08 We're going to go through each game.
21:10 It's way too early.
21:11 We're not putting match-ups.
21:12 We're not thinking that crazy.
21:13 We're not going in depth, of course.
21:15 It's way too early right off the bat.
21:16 Win, loss, win, loss,
21:17 schedule prediction from myself and Taylor.
21:19 The other thing I noticed actually,
21:21 just saw this from Tamara Brown of Patriots.com.
21:25 No Thanksgiving or no Christmas games
21:27 for the Patriots either.
21:28 Thank God we get holidays this year, baby.
21:31 - Also, you have to come to Tennessee
21:34 'cause the Titans game is on my birthday.
21:36 - Okay, fine, we'll make that a road trip.
21:38 We'll make that happen.
21:39 - Maybe in Tennessee, that's going to be pretty sad.
21:40 I can't wait to tell Liz she's going to be pumped.
21:41 - Yeah, all right, there we go.
21:43 All right, so let's do it.
21:44 Let's go game by game here.
21:45 Taylor, you're running the Google Doc.
21:46 I just threw it up.
21:48 Whoops, sorry.
21:49 Every time we do the same thing.
21:50 - Peas in a pod, man, peas in a pod.
21:54 - Two peas in a pod on Pat's Daily
21:56 presented by Game Time and PrizePix, baby.
22:00 All right, let's do predictions.
22:02 Patriots start the season at the Bengals.
22:05 I'll go first.
22:06 We'll just go snake order.
22:07 I'll go, you go, then you go, I go,
22:09 and we'll just go down and on the thing.
22:12 Patriots at Bengals, they're going to lose this game.
22:15 Give them a no.
22:16 It's that simple.
22:17 Joe Burrow's coming off.
22:18 They'll go 0-1.
22:20 And yeah, I think there's not much to explain.
22:24 I think they start the season 0-1.
22:26 - Yeah, as long as Burrow's healthy,
22:27 there really shouldn't be much question about this.
22:29 You got, as long as Tee Higgins is still on the team,
22:31 you got Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase,
22:33 one of the best duos in the NFL.
22:35 Jermaine Burton, I think, is going to be someone
22:37 who probably emerges as a starter for them.
22:39 Obviously a lot of off-field stuff,
22:40 but he's extremely talented.
22:42 And as the number three receiver,
22:44 it's kind of giving me Seahawks vibes,
22:46 where it's just like you have two amazing veterans
22:48 and then a rookie who can come in
22:49 and kind of just pick up all the scraps
22:51 and eat as someone who's still adjusting.
22:53 I also like the tight end room got better.
22:55 They got Mike Gusicchi, obviously.
22:56 They also got Eric Ault, who is somebody I really like.
22:59 He's a high risk, high reward prospect.
23:01 - Every tight end from the University of Iowa
23:03 is nasty in the league.
23:04 That was a great pick by them.
23:06 - Honestly, that's the best way to put it.
23:08 And then right tackle,
23:09 obviously been a turnstile for them, kind of.
23:11 They lost Jonah Williams.
23:13 They got Trent Brown, who, say what you want about him,
23:15 he's one of the most talented left tackles,
23:16 or offensive tackles in the NFL.
23:19 And they also got Emarius Mims to learn behind him.
23:21 They really did a good job shoring up that offensive line.
23:24 Zach Moss replacing Joe Mixon.
23:27 That's a downgrade, but not a significant one.
23:30 And then the defense, you know,
23:32 it's got a lot of (audio cuts out)
23:34 the biggest thing.
23:35 They added Gino Stone, who was a ball hawk last season.
23:38 Mike Hilton still really good.
23:39 They brought back Von Bell, who's solid.
23:41 Sheldon Rankins is really disruptive.
23:43 And then they also drafted Chris Jenkins
23:45 and McKinley Jackson in the middle.
23:47 And then Josh Newton added to the secondary.
23:50 So yeah, just gonna try to give you an idea
23:53 of what the rosters are looking like.
23:54 Not gonna go crazy in depth, but yeah, bottom line,
23:57 that's an L.
23:58 I don't really think they'll explain why.
24:00 They're a very good team.
24:01 They're well-coached. They've been there before.
24:03 - Yep. No, I'm with you.
24:05 All right, you go with Seahawks now.
24:06 What do you think?
24:07 - Yeah, another team where there's continuity on offense.
24:10 I think that's gonna be huge,
24:12 especially on the offensive line.
24:14 They had a couple of new guards,
24:15 Lake and Tomlinson.
24:15 They also, who did they draft?
24:18 Christian Haynes, one of the best guards in the class.
24:20 They have really good young tackles.
24:22 I love Gino Smith.
24:24 I think they got a well-rounded offense
24:25 'cause Kenneth Murray and Zach Charbonnet
24:27 are a good backfield combo.
24:29 And then the defense,
24:30 they got a really athletic defensive line
24:32 that's super disruptive.
24:33 Their linebackers, they're replacing Jordan Brooks,
24:36 who's now actually on the Dolphins.
24:39 I don't like that.
24:40 You know, as a Patriots follower,
24:41 he's a really talented player.
24:42 They're replacing those
24:43 with a couple of largely unknown guys.
24:46 Actually, Jerome Baker,
24:47 Dolphins and Titans, or Seahawks, wound up swapping.
24:50 And then the secondary in Seattle is nasty.
24:54 Like, you got Tariq Rowland.
24:56 You got Michael Jackson,
24:57 who had a couple of teams with the Patriots.
24:58 And who's the third corner?
24:59 I'm forgetting.
25:00 - Devin Witherspoon.
25:01 - Devin Witherspoon.
25:02 Yeah, nasty.
25:04 You know, I have high hopes for this Patriots team.
25:06 I think they can upset,
25:08 but this is just too early.
25:09 And I think they're like,
25:10 not really gonna get a chance to catch their breath.
25:12 So yeah, I'm a (indistinct)
25:15 - I'm gonna give them a win in week two, Taylor.
25:18 I think, like I said,
25:20 they're gonna start one-on-one.
25:21 They come home, Gerard Mayo's first game,
25:23 under the lights, not really,
25:25 'cause I think it's a 1 p.m. kick,
25:26 but at Gillette Stadium.
25:29 - Yeah, I like it.
25:30 I, look, Geno Smith's been good,
25:32 but he's also been a bit of a roller coaster.
25:34 Like, some weeks he's great,
25:35 some weeks he's below average.
25:36 And I think that this defense the Patriots have
25:38 is still really good.
25:40 I know you know that.
25:41 I know you think that.
25:43 And they show out against Geno Smith
25:44 in the Seahawks week one.
25:45 They still gonna have a rookie head coach,
25:46 like you said, Mike McDonald is their guy.
25:48 And so, yeah, I just think that they can sneak one by.
25:51 Now, the rest of their early schedule
25:54 is gonna be daunting.
25:55 And I feel like I have to give them a win somewhere,
25:57 'cause I don't actually think
25:57 they're gonna start the season like 0-10.
25:59 So I'm gonna give them a Seahawks win
26:02 to start this thing off at home,
26:03 and then before we get some losses down the stretch,
26:07 which is why moving on to week three,
26:09 at the Jets, Thursday night football,
26:12 the Patriots lose.
26:13 Short week, I don't see Aaron Rodgers,
26:16 I don't see Aaron Rodgers, frankly,
26:19 tearing his Achilles again, knock on wood.
26:21 So I think he's gonna be around and be on this team.
26:24 And that Jets team is really good.
26:26 They showed last year that they're really good
26:28 outside of the quarterback position.
26:29 They now get one of the best ones in football back.
26:32 Garrett Wilson's gonna have a nasty year.
26:34 I can't wait to watch Garrett Wilson
26:35 and Christian Gonzalez line up in week three,
26:38 like we saw last year.
26:40 So they get to do it again with a healthy Rodgers,
26:42 but Thursday night football,
26:43 their standalone first standalone game of the season.
26:46 I am gonna take the Jets to beat the Patriots
26:48 when they start out with one and two.
26:50 - Also, you mentioned Garrett Wilson and Christian Gonzalez.
26:52 We're eating good when it comes to gonzo matchups.
26:55 The fans are following the top receivers.
26:56 You start with Samar Chase, DK Metcalf, Garrett Wilson,
27:00 probably Brandon Iyuk, Tyree Kill or Jalen Waddell or OBJ,
27:05 whoever they decide he's the best matchup against.
27:07 Then probably Diggs or Nico Collins,
27:11 Calvin Ridley or Brian Thomas.
27:13 - Calvin's not there anymore, FYI.
27:15 - Oh my gosh, I'm thinking of the Titans.
27:17 I'm thinking of the Titans.
27:18 - They have Gabe Davis now.
27:20 - So Brian Thomas, he probably is.
27:22 It's gonna be fun.
27:23 - Yeah, I'm giving them the L here.
27:25 I think this is gonna be early when the Jets probably,
27:28 I feel like, come out swinging.
27:30 If they have some growing pains
27:32 with some of the new additions,
27:33 then maybe the Patriots have more of a chance.
27:36 I feel like the Jets are gonna be riding high
27:37 at this point in the season
27:38 when they got all their older players are still healthy
27:41 and things are kind of moving in their favor.
27:43 So yeah, gonna drop them down to an 0-3 start,
27:47 which I don't think a lot of people know me would expect.
27:50 - Optimistic Taylor Kyles has the Patriots
27:53 starting 0-3.
27:55 Does he have them starting 0-4?
27:57 - I do have them starting 0-4.
27:59 - Whoa, come on!
28:01 - It's gonna be a rough start.
28:03 We talked about how are they gonna handle resiliency
28:05 now that Durant's not just basically the DC,
28:07 but the head coach.
28:09 We're gonna find out.
28:10 The Jets is really the only game here.
28:12 I think they have a legitimate chance at winning.
28:14 And even then on a short week, especially on the road,
28:16 that's gonna be tough.
28:17 And then they're following that up.
28:19 They get a little mini bye
28:20 because of Thursday night football,
28:22 but still you're going all the way to San Francisco
28:24 to face one of the true juggernauts in the NFL,
28:27 a perennial Super Bowl contender,
28:29 not even just a playoff contender.
28:31 I don't see how you give them a snowball's chance
28:33 in hell in this game.
28:34 I really don't even see an avenue for them
28:36 to be genuinely competitive.
28:38 I just think this is a class of team
28:40 that nobody sees very often,
28:42 especially as now a conference opponent.
28:44 Yeah, I'm sorry.
28:45 This would be a literal miracle.
28:48 I'll be stunned.
28:49 - Wow, so Mr. Optimism and Taylor Kyle's.
28:52 With me, who's, I'm normally rather optimistic too.
28:55 I have the Patriot, but for me versus Taylor,
28:59 I would say I'm the pessimistic one.
29:00 And I have them with more wins through three weeks
29:03 than Taylor does, through four weeks really.
29:04 But yeah, they're still gonna lose this game.
29:07 It's not happening here.
29:08 That's why, like I said, I gotta give them a win early
29:10 because I think they're gonna go on a tough stretch here.
29:13 I mean, one in three, they start, they're just a wagon.
29:16 The Niners are so good on offense.
29:18 They're so good on defense.
29:19 It doesn't matter who their quarterback is.
29:21 Brock, like I say it like Brock Purdy's average,
29:23 but he's well above average at this point.
29:25 He just plays great football.
29:26 He's a gamer.
29:27 You saw it all throughout the post-season last year.
29:30 They just have a very, very, very well-rounded team.
29:33 The Patriots, like we know, are still young.
29:36 They're still gonna get their feet onto them
29:37 and they're gonna lose this one.
29:39 They're gonna fly out there
29:40 and then they're gonna come home
29:41 and they're gonna play the Miami Dolphins
29:44 and they're gonna lose again.
29:46 They're gonna lose to the Dolphins in week five.
29:48 They're gonna start one in four.
29:50 It's not going well for them.
29:51 I'm sorry.
29:52 I just look at the Dolphins as a team
29:54 that plays really, really good football early in the season.
29:58 They've wilted late the last couple of years,
30:01 but they're still week five right now.
30:04 They still have Tua playing in relatively warm weather
30:07 in New England, which is a positive.
30:08 They have Tyreek Hill.
30:09 They have Jalen Waddell, Mike McDaniel.
30:11 That offense isn't going anywhere,
30:13 at least not early on in the season.
30:15 So I think that's gonna be a tough matchup for them.
30:17 And I think offensively,
30:19 they're still gonna be getting their feet onto them.
30:21 At that point, they've lost three out of four
30:23 and might not have the confidence
30:24 to even get themselves rolling.
30:25 So even though, I mean, Miami's defense is solid,
30:28 but I just, I don't see them winning that game either.
30:32 Taylor, do your Patriots start O in five?
30:34 - So I think this is gonna be a more mentally tough team
30:37 than we give them credit for.
30:38 Like we've seen the defense can get through some adversity.
30:41 Offensively, I don't think they really,
30:43 I think with more talent,
30:44 you'll see that level of resiliency from them as well.
30:47 And there's gonna be growing pains, of course,
30:49 but again, I think they've just got a lot of true veterans
30:52 who will keep them afloat
30:54 so that it's not just like,
30:55 this is not even a competent offense.
30:57 I think they'll be solid.
30:58 I just think they're gonna get outclassed early on.
31:00 With the Dolphins,
31:01 Mike McDaniel always seems to have something
31:03 up his sleeve every season.
31:04 With a month of tape,
31:06 that gives you enough that you can be like,
31:07 all right, we've seen enough.
31:09 It's not like last year where it's only one,
31:11 was it, they played them in week two, right?
31:13 - Yeah, week two.
31:14 - Well, yeah, it's like,
31:15 you don't really have a whole lot of film on them,
31:16 so it's tough to know how exactly,
31:18 like what strategies work against them.
31:20 By then you'll know.
31:21 I also just don't think the Dolphins
31:24 have been as competitive with the Patriots
31:25 as Tua's undefeated record against them
31:27 makes it seem like they are.
31:28 The offense is always just so bad
31:31 and makes mistakes at the worst times,
31:34 especially like in Miami.
31:35 That was one of the worst games
31:36 they played against them in a while.
31:38 But usually they're like,
31:39 they're still competitive in the fourth quarter.
31:41 I don't think the Dolphins are a team
31:42 that ever is like blowing out the Patriots.
31:45 So I think with this being a home game,
31:48 I think this is one where the Patriots finally,
31:50 even though the Dolphins are super talented,
31:52 it's still Tua.
31:53 I like Tua.
31:53 The reality is he's gonna give you a chance
31:55 at some turnovers.
31:56 He's gonna make some mistakes.
31:57 I think if the defense keeps this close,
31:59 then especially, I think the run game
32:01 will be able to thrive with Christian Wilkins gone,
32:03 with Raekwon Davis gone.
32:04 I think that maybe they can lean into the ground game
32:06 and then get some big plays off that.
32:08 So I think this will be their first win
32:11 in their second home game.
32:12 So they are now at one and four, according to my schedule.
32:16 I just, I don't fear the Dolphins like that.
32:18 I really don't, even in the early season.
32:20 - All right, back on track.
32:22 I'm gonna let you get this one,
32:23 but I need to tell you something first.
32:24 Did you, did you see that ridiculous,
32:26 ridiculous Harrison Butker graduation day speech?
32:30 - Dude, I was so physically uncomfortable.
32:34 Like every other, every sentence, I'm just like,
32:36 dude, you gotta stop.
32:37 Like you're talking to yourself.
32:39 - The Chargers did their schedule release
32:42 and they did it in like Sims characters.
32:45 And when they did their Chiefs, their Chiefs one,
32:49 they did a Sims character of Harrison Butker
32:52 cooking in the kitchen, like a woman.
32:55 I think that-
32:57 - Oh, okay, I thought, okay.
32:58 I thought she meant like he was cooking.
33:00 I was like, no, okay, that means-
33:02 - No, no, no, no, no.
33:03 As in like, he's like, like he was telling women,
33:05 like they are the homeowner or the home builders
33:08 and they should like be cooking.
33:09 So like they made fun of him,
33:10 took a shot at him being the, being the woman of the house,
33:13 which I think is awesome.
33:14 'Cause that shit was so ridiculous.
33:16 - That was just, oh, so cringey.
33:18 - Yeah, very, very cringey.
33:20 - When he almost cries talking about his wife,
33:22 it's just like, she makes such a lovely home.
33:25 It's like-
33:26 - Yeah, yeah, come on, dude.
33:27 So weird, but yeah, I liked that they,
33:29 they gave them some shit for that in the Chargers thing.
33:31 'Cause that, that was just a crazy, crazy thing.
33:33 All right, I had to tell you that.
33:35 One and four, Taylor, Patriots then.
33:37 Stay home for another game in a row.
33:40 What?
33:41 - We're even now.
33:42 - Yeah, we are even now.
33:43 So yeah, what do you think about the Texans?
33:46 - This is another one I don't think,
33:47 I don't see how they win this game.
33:49 I really don't.
33:49 I think that the Texans have some holes on defense,
33:54 but I don't think they're glaring.
33:55 I think they're way more talented than they are deficient.
33:58 I just think it's a super well-rounded team.
34:00 And with the offense, they still have Dalton Schultz,
34:03 Nico Collins, Tank Dell's coming back.
34:05 Step on Diggs, obviously.
34:07 And they have Joe Mixon and Damian Pierce.
34:09 Their offensive line is good.
34:11 CJ Stroud's obviously a stud.
34:12 Nico Ryan's a fantastic coach.
34:14 This is one of those where if they win,
34:17 I think it's like one of those statement wins
34:19 that puts them kind of on the map
34:20 is maybe you gotta take them more seriously.
34:23 I think they're gonna be a competitive team,
34:24 but this is not one that I see them pulling out.
34:26 - Yeah, I'm with you.
34:28 I second everything you said.
34:29 The Texans are on the up and up.
34:31 They came in last year.
34:33 CJ Stroud proved he was much more
34:35 than just the second overall pick.
34:39 He was like an MVP candidate by like week five,
34:42 like literally was like an MVP candidate
34:44 according to all the odds.
34:45 He was awesome.
34:46 He played that way throughout the entirety of the season.
34:48 He's a stud.
34:49 Quarterback's the most important position.
34:51 They just got so much better.
34:53 And now they bring in Stephon Diggs.
34:54 Their wide receiver core is already nasty.
34:56 Their offensive line is really good.
34:58 Their defense is awesome.
35:00 The Texans are a top tier team in the AFC,
35:02 and they flipped it around so fast.
35:04 That's what the model the Patriots need to go after is.
35:07 And hopefully they can do that.
35:08 But right now they're not even close to that yet.
35:10 So I am also saying the Texans beat them in week,
35:14 what is that, week six?
35:16 Yeah, week six.
35:17 Then week seven, they go across the pond to London
35:19 where they play the Jaguars,
35:21 who are a home team over there.
35:23 Basically, they play a couple of games over there each year.
35:25 They've turned that into their second home stadium.
35:27 And-
35:28 - The NFL started into their second home stadium.
35:31 - Yeah, that's fair.
35:31 That's very fair.
35:33 - That's what we had.
35:34 - Yeah, so Patriots go overseas again,
35:36 and I think they lose overseas again, Taylor.
35:38 I like the Jaguars.
35:39 I am higher on the Jaguars than most people.
35:43 I think I'm higher on Trevor Lawrence than most people.
35:45 I just think they're, him, Doug Peterson,
35:48 what they have on offense, they bring in Brian Thomas.
35:50 Obviously they lose Calvin Ridley,
35:51 but Gabe Davis is there.
35:52 Christian Kirk is still there and solid for them.
35:55 Their defense is pretty good.
35:56 They re-signed Josh Allen after franchise tagging him.
35:59 And so, look, yeah, they started hot last year.
36:03 They went on a run, then they got cold towards the end.
36:05 I think they missed the playoffs actually
36:07 because the Texans ended up beating them in the AFC South.
36:09 But Trevor Lawrence, I think,
36:10 is just gonna keep getting better and better.
36:12 And I usually just compare quarter,
36:14 not just compare quarterbacks,
36:15 but I use the quarterback comparison
36:17 to really help or hurt my argument in these games.
36:20 And I just think Trevor Lawrence and what they have
36:21 is better than what the Patriots have
36:23 at this point in the season.
36:24 And the more I think about it and look at it,
36:28 they're playing for 2025,
36:29 and not that they're not gonna try,
36:32 not that they don't wanna win these games,
36:33 but I know the Patriots have this mental toughness
36:36 you're talking about,
36:37 but I don't know if I see them very ready to win a game
36:40 in London against the Jaguars just yet.
36:42 They're still too young until too built.
36:45 It's too buildy, crazy to say.
36:47 They're too much of a rebuilding team right now
36:49 where I just don't see them winning games immediately.
36:52 - I see what you mean.
36:55 I see what you mean, but-
36:57 - And it's not that they're gonna be losses
36:59 that are devastating franchise-changing losses
37:03 like they were last year,
37:04 where you go in the locker room
37:05 and people are spiking shit against the wall.
37:07 It's not that, it's just,
37:09 are they really gonna beat the Jaguars?
37:11 Are the Patriots that are coming off a 4-13 team
37:14 with a new head coach and a rookie quarterback
37:16 or a veteran quarterback, I don't know.
37:19 Something's not clicking with me
37:21 with this game in particular
37:22 and a lot of these games in particular.
37:23 So I think they go down in London.
37:27 - So I think that Josh Allen and Eric Armstead
37:29 are disruptive up front.
37:31 I think the linebackers for the Jaguars are pretty good.
37:33 I'm just not super moved by their secondary.
37:37 That's one thing I think you can probably throw on them
37:39 if you're careful.
37:40 I think you can run on them as well
37:41 if you block things up well,
37:43 'cause they're more disruptors
37:44 than they are really space eaters.
37:47 And then the Jaguars' offense, one is super spotty.
37:51 I think that's why people sleep on them
37:53 because they haven't been consistently good enough
37:54 for you to be like, "Oh, the Jags."
37:56 I was buying Trevor Lawrence hype.
37:58 I remember when he came back against the Ravens,
38:00 I was like, "Wait a minute, something clicked in him.
38:02 This was different."
38:04 And then they went on the run
38:05 and I was pumping Trevor Lawrence's tires.
38:07 And then last year, it's just,
38:08 they were way too inconsistent.
38:10 That's not all on him, but it is partially.
38:12 Their offensive line didn't get that much better
38:14 where I'm saying like, "Oh, you gotta watch out.
38:17 They can't run block. They couldn't last year.
38:19 I don't see how their run game got any better."
38:21 So this is a one-dimensional team
38:22 against one of the best defense in the NFL.
38:24 Brian Thomas Jr., he scares me.
38:26 But then, okay, put Gonzalez on him.
38:29 And then you're saying, "Okay, are you afraid of Gabe Davis
38:31 and Christian Kirk and Evan Ingram?"
38:33 Not really, not with the Patriots secondary.
38:35 Jonathan Jones on Christian Kirk, I like.
38:38 Whoever they decide is their good enough cornerback to,
38:41 obviously that'll depend.
38:43 But still, Gabe seems doesn't scare me that badly.
38:45 And whether it's Kyle Duggar or Marte Mapu,
38:47 I think they can handle Evan Ingram
38:48 to the point that he's not gonna take over the game.
38:50 So I give them a win.
38:52 I think that one, this is gonna be, again,
38:55 a mentally resilient team that is gonna be hungry
38:58 and is gonna really try to like bind itself
39:01 and kind of stack some wins together
39:02 at this midpoint in the season.
39:04 I just don't maybe respect the Jaguars enough.
39:06 They haven't shown me enough on a consistent basis.
39:08 - Yeah.
39:09 All right, that's the early part of the season.
39:11 Hitting a mini bye week here, going home against the Jets.
39:14 Let's do, let's go rapid fire here through the bye week,
39:18 and then we'll analyze a little bit more post-bye,
39:21 and then we'll get out of here
39:22 because although schedule day is a great holiday,
39:25 we're getting towards sort of the end of this thing.
39:27 So let's go rapid fire through the bye week.
39:29 Jets at home?
39:32 Yeah, Jets at home, Patriots win or loss?
39:34 - No, this is, yeah, the Jets Patriots at home, yeah.
39:36 I think the Patriots win this one.
39:38 This is where I think that injuries
39:40 are gonna start to set in for the Jets offense.
39:42 And that's why I think the Patriots
39:43 are gonna have them more vulnerable.
39:44 And either way, I think they're gonna hold
39:46 the Jets pretty close.
39:47 And again, I think this is where the alchemist in me
39:50 is like, if they start to see we can win games,
39:53 I think they'll start to put them together
39:54 against teams that are beatable.
39:56 Like the Jets receiving core,
39:57 I just don't think is very deep.
39:58 I feel like it's just gonna take one Jenga piece
40:00 for that unit to become way less intimidating.
40:02 So yeah, I'm giving them the win here.
40:04 - All right.
40:05 What did you say?
40:08 - Was that rapid fire, you know?
40:09 - Yeah, that was good, but I'm gonna give them a loss.
40:11 I'm going one and seven to start this thing.
40:13 It's starting to even off here
40:14 with Optimus first pessimist.
40:15 I still think that,
40:17 (laughs)
40:18 I still think that, sorry, Negan.
40:20 Negan.
40:21 - Jerk, what did I do?
40:25 - I, so injuries are only the other team.
40:29 No, but the Jets are basically
40:30 a retirement home at this point.
40:32 So whatever.
40:33 All right, sorry.
40:34 I just-
40:35 - I'm taking loss though.
40:36 I'm giving them an L.
40:36 I think they lose this one.
40:37 - Why do you think they lose though?
40:38 Let me know.
40:39 Let me know.
40:40 - Why?
40:41 - Yeah.
40:42 - Because I just think that the Jets
40:44 are objectively a better team than the Patriots.
40:46 I think they have a better quarterback.
40:47 I think I have,
40:48 I don't wanna say they have a better head coach
40:49 by any means,
40:50 nor do they have a better offensive coordinator
40:52 or anything like that.
40:52 I just think the matchup itself,
40:54 where, I mean, I look at,
40:57 now granted Gonzo and Garrett Wilson,
40:59 I think is pretty much a wash,
41:01 but I still,
41:02 I just trust Aaron Rodgers and that team
41:04 so much more than I trust the Patriots right now.
41:06 And again, it's not,
41:08 it's not to say that they won't keep it close
41:09 and be relatively competitive and be,
41:11 you know, fiery and fun and young,
41:13 and they're gonna give us some hope,
41:16 but I just still think there's so much more
41:18 of a rebuilding team than the Jets are right now.
41:20 Yes, they're at home,
41:22 but I, not that I agree with the guy
41:25 sort of taunting you in the chat,
41:28 but like, I find it hard to-
41:30 - He's using mean words.
41:31 - Oh, okay.
41:32 So I was gonna say though,
41:33 like I, it's hard to just bank on injuries
41:36 to predict a game.
41:37 So, you know, both teams healthy.
41:40 I just think the Jets are better.
41:41 So I give them a win.
41:42 But-
41:43 - That's fair.
41:44 And I can see it going both ways.
41:45 I'm not-
41:46 - Yeah, no, I agree.
41:47 I think they can, they can fight in these games.
41:48 I really do.
41:49 Like, I don't think they're just gonna be blowouts.
41:51 I think these games are gonna be close.
41:52 And finally, I think they get their next win
41:54 at the Titans here in this one.
41:57 I think in national, the Patriots pull one out.
41:59 I just, it's rookie head coach versus rookie head coach.
42:03 I think I have more confidence in Jerrod Mayo
42:04 than Callahan.
42:07 I have more confidence with the Patriots doing quarterback
42:09 and what the Titans are doing with Will Levis.
42:11 So I'm gonna give them a win here.
42:13 - Yeah, especially Jacoby Berset's playing this game.
42:15 I would just give him the edge over Will Levis.
42:17 Like he's obviously super talented.
42:19 The Patriots are so good at not allowing passes
42:21 over their head.
42:22 And I feel like Will Levis is gonna try to force it
42:24 and they're gonna be able to capitalize on that.
42:26 Now, Jacoby is still prone to making some mistakes,
42:29 but he also makes big plays.
42:30 And I think if he just needs to play within himself
42:32 and keep them on point, I think they can do that.
42:35 'Cause I like, I think there's some bright spots
42:36 on the Titans defense for sure.
42:37 And they're always really tough.
42:39 And I love their offensive line
42:40 and obviously having both the Callahans is crazy.
42:43 But yeah, if the Patriots are gonna have
42:45 some kind of win streak, you know,
42:47 I do want to at least try to find some wins here.
42:49 I do think this is another one where it would make sense.
42:51 Given again, Will Levis just isn't the kind of guy
42:53 that really, really scares you.
42:55 And I feel like, you know,
42:57 they have a lot of veteran receivers
42:59 like Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins, Tyler Boyd.
43:01 Like those are legit dudes,
43:02 but I think the Patriots are also athletic enough
43:04 in their defense that they'll be able
43:06 to contain those guys and you know.
43:07 - Yeah. All right.
43:09 This is funny in the chat.
43:10 Stanley says so much for moving it along.
43:12 So I'm gonna let you, you go, give me your win last.
43:16 - I'm not good at brevity.
43:17 - All right.
43:18 Then what I'll do is I'll give you my win losses right now
43:20 through the bye week.
43:20 I think at Bears is a win.
43:22 I think they beat Caleb Williams and the Bears.
43:25 Quick reasoning.
43:27 I just think that the, even though the Bears offense,
43:29 I think is better right now with what they've done.
43:31 I just, I don't know.
43:33 I trust the Patriots in that one for some odd reason.
43:35 Versus the Rams is a loss.
43:37 Patriots fall to three and eight.
43:39 At Dolphins is a loss, three and nine.
43:43 And versus the Colts is a win.
43:45 Patriots are four and nine at the bye week.
43:47 - All right.
43:49 So Bears, I agree.
43:50 I think it's gonna be a win, especially Mr. Kobe again,
43:53 just that veteran presence.
43:54 Patriots always struggle against mobile quarterbacks
43:56 but I do think they're getting more athletic.
43:58 And I feel like that like kind of identity
44:00 is going to the wayside a bit.
44:01 And Caleb Williams, super talented
44:03 but I think they can get them to make some mistakes.
44:05 So yeah, I'm gonna put that at five and five.
44:07 So now they're even.
44:08 - Now they're cooking four wins in a row for you.
44:11 - I think that's realistic
44:12 where they start kind of finding their groove
44:13 and they really start getting a little winning streak going.
44:15 I think also that's like that soft middle part
44:18 of the season where it's like
44:19 you could probably win some games there.
44:21 Rams, no, I'm not even there.
44:23 That team is so good.
44:24 They are so good.
44:25 And like they have a few juggernauts on this schedule.
44:28 And I feel like the Rams are definitely in that category.
44:30 Matthew Stafford, Cooper Cup, obviously Puka Nakua,
44:35 Kyron Williams, Blake Corham now,
44:37 Tyler Higby if he's healthy, a bruising offensive line.
44:40 Like that's just the offense and the defense,
44:42 that defensive line, Byron Young and Kobe Turner.
44:47 I always want to say Kobe Turner.
44:49 Kobe Turner had excellent rookie seasons.
44:52 Then they added Brandon Fiske,
44:53 Brandon Fiske, however you say his name, I'm sorry.
44:56 And Jared Verse.
44:57 And then I also like some of the pieces they got
44:59 in their secondary as well.
45:00 So yeah, I don't think they're gonna win that.
45:02 At Dolphins, lost, they don't win in Miami.
45:05 I don't need to explain that any further.
45:06 It is what it is until they prove otherwise.
45:08 That's just a house of horrors.
45:10 Versus Colts, I think they get back on track.
45:13 It's gonna be tough though.
45:14 I really think the Colts are gonna give them a run
45:16 for their money.
45:17 It's just the defense I feel like
45:19 as long as they don't make mistakes.
45:20 Like it feels like every time they play the Colts,
45:22 their offense just doesn't play well.
45:24 It's kind of like the Dolphins where it's just,
45:26 they're always close games.
45:28 It's just like, please someone just win the freaking game.
45:30 Like do something, especially the Colts
45:33 with Gardner Minshew and Sam Ellinger.
45:36 But even though Anthony Richardson is a dog
45:38 and I think this is gonna be a really good offense.
45:41 This is the optimist in me, I will admit.
45:42 Saying that I think they can pull out a win here.
45:44 - Oh, I think they do too.
45:45 I think I like their chances against that Colts team.
45:48 - Yeah.
45:49 - So six and seven for Taylor.
45:51 - So it's four and nine.
45:52 - At the bye week, who's your quarterback right now
45:56 for the Patriots, hypothetically in this scenario?
45:58 Is Drake May starting right now
45:59 or are we still riding Jacoby Berset?
46:01 - If, maybe this is a cop-out.
46:05 If Jacoby is not the reason they're losing,
46:07 I think they roll with him.
46:09 If it's like Jacoby's played well,
46:11 but maybe there were some moments
46:12 where we could have won games where Jacoby made mistakes,
46:15 that's where you start considering Drake May.
46:17 But again, I think it's just gonna come down
46:19 to whether or not he's ready.
46:20 If at the bye week, they're having these questions
46:22 and it's like, we don't need to throw Drake in there
46:24 at this point in the season.
46:25 Let's just see what we can do.
46:27 We don't need to make the playoffs this year.
46:28 We stick with Jacoby.
46:30 But if it's like, Drake can probably get us
46:33 over that threshold and really give us a strong finish.
46:35 I think it's him.
46:36 What about you?
46:38 - In this scenario where they win two in a row,
46:43 versus at bears, at Titans, at bears,
46:45 then they lose to the Rams and the Dolphins.
46:48 They beat the Colts, but it's a tight game
46:50 and Jacoby plays iffy football.
46:52 They find the bye week to be the time
46:54 where they turn it over to Drake May.
46:55 So I am saying Drake May turns it over here
46:58 and they give him the last four games.
47:00 Even Drake May time takes over,
47:03 whatever you want, I don't care.
47:05 Yeah, there we go.
47:06 It's Drake May season to start the rest of it here for me.
47:10 I think they're gonna, look,
47:11 I don't think they're gonna necessarily use,
47:13 I don't think they're necessarily gonna look
47:16 for these perfect splits in the schedule,
47:19 like I mentioned, where it has to be this bye week
47:21 and it has to be after London
47:22 or it has to be after the mini bye.
47:23 They'll feel it out and they'll see it
47:25 and I don't think they're gonna turn it over
47:26 until they know Drake May's ready.
47:28 But in this scenario, I think that this could be
47:30 a decent time for it.
47:32 You give him the last four games,
47:33 get used to the NFL football,
47:34 get used to cold NFL football,
47:36 playing two home games to end the season in New England.
47:40 So this is when they turn it over.
47:41 But first they go to Arizona for a 4-15 matchup.
47:45 - I agree, it's gonna be May time.
47:46 I'm just gonna put it there.
47:47 - And I think they,
47:52 who's their head coach now?
47:55 - Jonathan Gannon.
47:56 - Oh, that's right.
47:57 Yeah, okay.
47:58 - Lonnie Ossenfort's been--
48:00 - Yeah.
48:01 - Decent work.
48:02 - I think they pull this one out.
48:03 I think they beat Arizona.
48:05 I just, I don't know why.
48:07 I like their chances.
48:08 I know Kyler's still,
48:10 Kyler Murray is still a great quarterback.
48:11 I don't get the Kyler Murray hate.
48:13 I really don't.
48:14 I think he's really good.
48:15 - 'Cause you can't see over his offensive line.
48:17 - It's stupid, man.
48:19 Like he's a really freaking good player.
48:21 He has a really good arm.
48:22 He knows how to read defenses.
48:24 He's not just a video game quarterback.
48:26 He understands the game
48:27 and he's also able to turn on the video game
48:30 quarterback type with his legs.
48:31 So I just, I love Kyler.
48:32 I think he's a great quarterback,
48:33 but I think if they do start Drake May,
48:37 sometimes there's just a quick spark
48:38 with those young guys,
48:39 teams haven't seen them, things like that.
48:40 I think they can outscore,
48:42 not necessarily outscore the Cardinals in the way,
48:45 you know, I want to say it like that,
48:46 but they can play well against that defense
48:49 and maybe hold Kyler's offense.
48:51 So I'm going to take a W there.
48:53 - Yeah, I think Kyler's a good player
48:55 and it's just like his athleticism makes up
48:57 for the fact that he doesn't always play in structure
48:59 'cause he's just so hard to get down.
49:01 Also, okay, so you put Danzo on Marvin Harrison Jr.
49:05 It's a little clash of the Titans.
49:06 They go back and forth.
49:07 No one else on the Cardinals offense really scares me.
49:10 I like their running backs,
49:11 but their receiving core just doesn't really move me
49:14 very much in their defense.
49:15 I feel like Jonathan Gannon got them playing solid.
49:17 I mean, the numbers don't reflect it,
49:19 but I feel like-
49:20 - No, they played better once they turned it over
49:22 to Kyler last year, they played better football.
49:24 - Yeah, so, but still,
49:27 I just don't think there's enough star power.
49:30 Now, like saying that is, you know,
49:31 on the Patriots end is kind of funny.
49:33 But at the same time, like usually with these Patriots teams,
49:36 even if it isn't with that, with Belichick,
49:39 you still have Gerard Mayo and the staff
49:40 who knows how to put these game plans together
49:42 and they've witnessed all these things.
49:44 This just feels like the kind of game
49:45 where it'll be competitive,
49:47 but I feel like the Patriots are able
49:49 to get the dub here as well.
49:50 So I have them going on a two game win streak.
49:54 - I know, again.
49:55 - Evened up at seven and seven.
49:57 - All right, bills, chargers, bills.
50:00 I'll have you give me all three at once because-
50:02 - One of these is supposed to be at,
50:03 which, where do I make this?
50:05 I think the first one.
50:07 - The first one's at bills.
50:08 - Yeah.
50:09 - Taylor Kyle, verse Taylor Kyle's bills.
50:13 - I wish, stop.
50:14 All right, I got it.
50:16 - There you go, at bills.
50:17 Give me all three right now because it's the back to back,
50:20 basically back to back bills
50:21 with the chargers in the middle.
50:23 What do you make of it?
50:24 What do you think of the ending stretch of the season here?
50:27 - So at bills, I'm going to give them a loss.
50:29 I think like playing them for the first time,
50:30 that's just going to be tough,
50:31 especially with the road environment.
50:33 They are going to take an L there.
50:35 I think they beat the chargers.
50:37 I think that Jim Harbaugh is going to bring more seriousness
50:40 to that team and make them much more competitive,
50:42 but their defense still isn't great, I don't think.
50:46 Justin Herbert, to be fair, when he plays the Patriots,
50:49 his numbers aren't very good,
50:50 but I think it's more the people around him
50:51 than like Justin Herbert plays poorly.
50:53 Like I've never watched a game and been like,
50:55 what is Herbert doing?
50:56 Like he usually plays them pretty well.
50:58 So I just think this defense is going to do pretty well,
51:00 even though, you know,
51:01 Ladd McConkie and Joe are difference makers
51:04 for that offense.
51:05 But I still, especially if it's a home game,
51:07 I'm going to give it to the Patriots.
51:08 I think they're also going to have a bad taste
51:09 in their mouth after what happened last year
51:11 where they couldn't score literally a touchdown
51:13 to win the game.
51:15 This one, eight and eight, I'm going to give them,
51:18 again, it's an optimistic slant.
51:20 I'm going to give them the push they need to split
51:23 up at home and on a high note.
51:26 If Drake Mase playing too,
51:28 this is going to be a really fun one.
51:29 - Yeah.
51:31 - Yeah. I don't feel great about it.
51:32 Like this, what was it?
51:33 This pick and the Jets, I think it was.
51:38 I don't feel great.
51:39 - The Jets and the Colts you didn't love.
51:40 - Right. Yeah.
51:41 I don't feel great about those.
51:42 And I a hundred percent acknowledge that,
51:43 but I'm looking for wins.
51:44 I'm trying to see like where they could be.
51:46 And they also played the Bills very close last season.
51:49 - Yeah, they did.
51:50 - Josh Allen had like multiple turnovers in both games.
51:52 They turned the ball over four times in the finale
51:54 and only lost five possession.
51:56 So I think they're starting to shorten the gap,
51:58 especially with all the turnovers
51:59 and the loss of leadership that they had in Buffalo.
52:01 So W, nine and eight season.
52:04 I'm going to get torn to shreds.
52:07 - I was just going to say,
52:08 you're going to get torn to shreds for nine and eight.
52:10 I'm going to give them three straight losses here.
52:13 And I'm probably going to get torn to shreds
52:14 for five and 12.
52:16 So I'll quickly reason it as you fill out the rest
52:19 of the dog.
52:20 I think at Bills is pretty, pretty easy.
52:21 They win two in a row.
52:22 So I'm not as pessimistic as you think.
52:24 They win the last two, but then they go at Bills.
52:27 And it's obviously at the Bills,
52:29 the Bills are the best team in the AFC East.
52:30 Probably, maybe, you know,
52:33 maybe Miami and New York or whatever.
52:37 They fight a little bit, but overall, like,
52:39 that's the best team and they've been the best team.
52:41 Essentially one of the best teams in the conference.
52:43 And yeah, they lost Epdigs
52:45 and they lost a couple other guys there,
52:47 but I still think they're really solid.
52:48 I think they lose to them.
52:49 I think the Chargers,
52:51 I've always been higher on the Chargers than you have.
52:53 We went through this basically every week
52:54 when we did our gambling shows throughout the season.
52:57 And I love the Chargers and you hate them.
52:58 And lo and behold, they suck and they fired their coach.
53:01 So you win that one, Taylor.
53:02 But I like Jim Harbaugh.
53:05 I like Jim Harbaugh.
53:06 I love Justin Herbert.
53:08 And I think that one day Drake May,
53:10 we're going to be talking about him
53:11 like we do Justin Herbert,
53:12 hopefully with more wins and more playoff appearances,
53:14 but the skillset and style of play, very similar to me.
53:18 I think Harbaugh is going to get that team role.
53:19 And I think they are going to be fighting for the playoffs.
53:21 I think the Patriots aren't, so they win that one.
53:23 And then unfortunately,
53:24 I think they lose week 18 to the Bills as well.
53:26 So unfortunately they go into 2025,
53:28 continuing to rebuild at five and 12
53:31 and losing their last three.
53:32 So that's my-
53:33 - But they might have a top 10 pick.
53:34 - What?
53:35 - They might have a top 10 pick.
53:36 - Yeah, exactly.
53:37 That's the optimist side.
53:38 So I have five and 12, Taylor has nine and eight.
53:42 So that is our predictions.
53:45 We will tweet out that Google Doc graphic
53:48 as soon as we get off of here.
53:50 And I think Taylor, that's going to do it for us tonight.
53:53 Do you have any other immediate thoughts
53:56 you have to get to on the schedule
53:57 before we wrap this thing up or?
54:00 - None at all.
54:00 The schedule is one of the most overhyped things
54:02 on the NFL calendar.
54:03 - It's so overhyped.
54:04 What are we doing right now?
54:06 - I mean, I think it is fun to go through
54:07 and spitball ideas to be fair for it.
54:09 Only dragging it out thing.
54:11 I know we had an hour long show,
54:13 that's just 'cause I don't know how to shut up.
54:15 Like don't overthink it.
54:17 There's so much that's going to happen
54:18 between now and when these games get played.
54:19 It's just for good fun.
54:20 That's all the same.
54:22 - That's exactly what it is.
54:23 It's super fun.
54:23 I do think it's super overrated.
54:25 Like when, we know the opponents,
54:28 it's just like when they're going to play.
54:30 It's basically like people planning their bachelor
54:32 and bachelorette parties down to Nashville right now.
54:33 Like when is my team playing the Titans
54:35 so I can spend more money on, you know,
54:37 first level seats at Nashville Zoo Stadium.
54:40 But it is fun.
54:41 - It is fun.
54:42 - It does matter like, you know,
54:44 when you know you're playing the Bills three out of like,
54:46 or two out of three weeks
54:47 and like the beginning of the schedule.
54:49 It's times where you're like, yeah,
54:50 I just don't see how they're even going to be alive
54:52 after that first month of the season.
54:54 Or like maybe they get a push.
54:56 So there is like, you can have the discussions
54:58 and add some nuance to the conversation.
55:00 But yeah, like it's-
55:02 - No, you're right.
55:03 Because you know, you look at West Coast, East Coast,
55:05 when they're traveling, if they're going to stay,
55:08 you know, you have the Jets and the Niners back to back,
55:11 you go to London, you don't have a bye.
55:13 So there are definitely quirks and kinks, I guess,
55:16 in the schedule that you can make more than you should.
55:20 And that's what we did here tonight.
55:21 So anyone who tuned in,
