00:03 Joe, a wild Tuesday night, which has been the story
00:07 throughout the Stanley Cup postseason.
00:09 It's the best postseason potentially in all of sports,
00:12 and it shows why once again last night.
00:15 Yeah, absolutely.
00:16 There was fireworks out there on the ice.
00:18 And I know we saw low scoring games,
00:20 but those games were so physical out there.
00:23 We saw those penalties come.
00:25 We saw some power play goals coming out there.
00:28 It was absolutely fantastic on the ice last night, you guys.
00:31 Joe, we start in sunrise, where the Panthers were back at home,
00:36 series clinching potential in game number five.
00:39 The odds makers thought it was done.
00:41 Florida was a minus 205 home ice favorite.
00:45 Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins, they had other ideas.
00:48 The Bs staved off elimination without Brad Marchand winning
00:52 last night 2 to 1 on the road to force a game 6 in Beantown.
00:57 How did Boston pull this off?
00:59 Wow, you look at Boston and how hard
01:01 they came out there in that first period.
01:04 They had 15 shots on Boborowski in that first period.
01:09 And this is something that the Boston Bruins haven't
01:11 been able to do in this series.
01:13 It's come out so strong offensively.
01:16 We've seen the Florida Panthers' defense
01:18 in all of these other games completely smother them
01:21 out there on the ice, not allow those shots,
01:23 giving Boborowski a really light workload out there.
01:27 It didn't happen last night.
01:29 The Boston Bruins in that first period
01:31 absolutely dominated on the ice.
01:32 They held the Florida Panthers to only four shots on net.
01:36 And that was the storyline of this game.
01:38 They got up in that first period,
01:41 and they were able to hold strong in it.
01:43 Now, in the second period, we did see both of those teams
01:45 be able to put the puck in the back of the net.
01:48 But ultimately, the Boston Bruins then in that third
01:51 period, when we saw Boborowski pulled,
01:54 this was over three minutes that he wasn't in his net.
01:57 Florida trying desperately to tie it up,
02:00 and they had a beautiful opportunity
02:02 with eight seconds left.
02:04 And Swayman, phenomenal save from the shot from Sam Reinhart.
02:09 You look at the defense, what Boston
02:10 was able to do in that last three minutes,
02:12 they had six block shots, only allowing three shots
02:15 by the Florida Panthers in over three minutes.
02:17 It was absolutely phenomenal on the ice
02:19 last night for the Bruins.
02:21 - A competitive series now we have with the Bruins.
02:24 Let's take a look at Edmonton last night.
02:25 They couldn't afford to take a loss.
02:27 And we know that late game heroics here
02:30 usually go against Edmonton in the playoffs, not last night.
02:33 You had a two goal lead here.
02:34 First period, a dry, subtle power play goal.
02:36 Second period, Ryden Nugent Hopkins
02:38 extended the two to nothing.
02:39 But then you have Vancouver, goals by Garland,
02:42 and Joshua tied up before late, late.
02:44 Evan Bouchard gets a goal to tie the series up.
02:47 Best of three now, Joe, between Edmonton and Vancouver.
02:50 - Oh, fantastic to see this series tied up
02:53 because I want this one to go to seven.
02:55 These are fantastic games out there on the ice.
02:58 Storyline of this one, the third string goaltenders
03:02 being able to keep this game under that total
03:04 with Edmonton winning it three to two.
03:07 It was a fantastic night for both of these goaltenders.
03:10 We know Cilos out here for Vancouver
03:13 has been phenomenally strong.
03:15 But Calvin Pickett, this was his first playoff start.
03:19 And I didn't know how he was gonna do last night
03:21 if he would crumble under the pressure,
03:23 but he did phenomenally strong.
03:25 Now the defense of Edmonton did stand up.
03:28 They were able to limit the shots on goal
03:31 of the Vancouver Canucks and really hold them down
03:35 in last night's game.
03:36 Vancouver has to come out with more offensive firepower
03:41 if they want a chance to beat the Edmonton Oilers
03:43 because the Edmonton Oilers defense absolutely stood up
03:47 knowing they had a third string goaltender in there,
03:49 but they also gave them the trust
03:50 and they gave them the faith,
03:52 allowing some of those shots to go on him.
03:54 And Calvin Pickett, you gotta tip your hat to him
03:56 for how strong he played in that game last night.
03:59 It was absolutely phenomenal, you guys.
04:01 Elias Pedersen at the Vancouver Canucks wanna win.
04:04 They need players like him to step up.
04:07 He's been so silent in the playoffs.
04:09 It's just not what Vancouver needs out there.
04:12 But fantastic series.
04:14 The power play of Edmonton was able to convert.
04:16 We saw that conversion early.
04:18 One of two on the power play.
04:20 And we saw Vancouver absolutely not be able
04:23 to get anything done on that power play.
04:24 Oh, and three, the kill of Edmonton
04:26 coming out nice and strong.
04:27 - The highs and the lows, the joy and the agony
04:32 of Stanley Cup playoff hockey
04:34 in less than two minutes last night.
04:36 Dakota Joshua scores in the final two minutes of regulation
04:40 to put or to tie the game for Vancouver,
04:42 only for Evan Bouchard to net the game winner
04:45 in the final minute of regulation.
04:47 But DRS, did you not wanna ask
04:49 about where the series stands now
04:51 between the Bruins and the Panthers
04:53 as we head back to TD Garden for game number six?
04:56 I guess I'll do so looking at the series situation.
05:00 Joe, the story last year,
05:01 Boston the best team we have ever seen
05:03 in the history of an NHL regular season,
05:06 up 3-1 against Florida in the opening round.
05:08 The Panthers win three straight, two storm back.
05:12 Could the Bs do the same to the Panthers this time around?
05:17 - They absolutely could.
05:18 There's an opportunity here,
05:20 especially with how we saw Boston
05:21 being able to click last night.
05:23 But I do think the Florida Panthers
05:25 find a way to get things done.
05:27 I look at their defense
05:28 and their defense had an off night last night.
05:30 And if this defense is able to step back up
05:33 and lock down the Boston Bruins,
05:34 not give them those opportunities,
05:36 I still think the Florida Panthers take this.
05:39 We gotta remember, Braden O'Shawn's not on the ice there
05:42 for the Boston Bruins.
05:43 And while he might be back in the next game,
05:45 I do think Florida overall is a stronger team.
05:48 Now this one could go all the way to seven though.
05:50 I don't think it comes easy anymore.
05:52 I really did believe in the Florida Panthers
05:55 closing it out in that last game.
05:56 But Boston has found a bit of rhythm here.
05:59 So I'm thinking almost a game seven,
06:02 Florida Panthers win and all the way in overtime.
06:05 This isn't gonna be an easy one, you guys.
