Husband stabbed to death by teen at Asda

The widow of a man who was stabbed outside Asda has spoken for the first time since her husband's murder.  Ian Kirwan, 53, was knifed in the heart in Redditch, Worcs., after confronting a gang of youths for messing about in a toilet.  In a heartfelt interview, Ian’s devastated widow Lyndsey speaks for the first time since losing her "best friend and other half".

00:11 He was confronted with a group of lads who were messing about

00:17 and from what I can gather they approached him and a fight ensued

00:25 and he was stabbed in the chest and died on the floor of Asta.

00:29 Through the trial we found out it was they were meeting a rival gang

00:35 and the idea was to steal from them.

00:37 He wasn't even due home and I knew something wasn't right.

00:42 Just had this feeling and I kept phoning him

00:47 and I phoned the police and I checked the bank balance and nothing had changed,

00:51 just he didn't come home.

00:56 I miss him every day.

01:15 There is a lot of training within like child care and education sector

01:19 about looking for signs and symptoms of how your child is behaving,

01:22 things that they might say and the way that they act.

01:25 That we as individuals might not necessarily be aware of.

01:29 I feel you owe it to yourselves and your children to look for this information

01:33 and look what to look out for.

01:36 We can be secretive as people and unaware or lives are busy that we don't notice.

01:42 Look for changes in your children, look for things that might be happening,

01:45 talk to your children, talk to them about the repercussions of carrying a weapon.

01:53 Ask them what they think about it, why they would want to do it.

01:57 Try and get them to look at the bigger picture that if you take somebody's life

02:01 how will that affect that person's world.
