00:00Professional safety and health is one of the areas that Saudi Arabia continues to develop.

00:07This is due to the increasing number of contract projects,

00:10which amount to about 280 billion riyals annually, according to the Saudi Contracting Authority.

00:17In addition, the number of factories increased from 8,800 to 12,000 factories in the past five years.

00:26The importance of this sector came from the Sixth International Conference on Professional Safety and Health in Riyadh,

00:35which focused on the sector and its role in the Saudi economy.

00:39Thank God, since the start of the National Programme for Health and Safety,

00:44we have seen a significant decrease in occupational injuries in the Saudi labor market.

00:49The number of occupational injuries decreased by 30% in six years.

00:54We also noticed an increase in the number of private sector institutions for occupational health and safety requirements.

01:01Over the past three years, the number of institutions has increased by more than 70%

01:05and we continue to set new targets and support private sector institutions

01:09and motivate them to comply with occupational health and safety requirements.

01:13Saudi Arabia has recently adopted the National Council for Professional Safety and Health Strategy.

01:19This comes with a decrease in occupational injuries in the Kingdom by 30.7% in the past six years

01:28and the number of workers in professional safety and health in the country to about 24,000 employees and specialists.

01:36The Kingdom also seeks to benefit more from the technology in this sector.

01:43The National Council for Professional Safety and Health has launched a framework

01:47to help organize the roles and responsibilities of government agencies.

01:51One of the goals of the Council is to develop a nationwide system

01:55to inform people about occupational health and safety issues, occupational injuries and investigations.

02:00Thank God, this system has been completed and launched today.

02:03We are also working to raise the level of professional safety and health.

02:09The first system to raise the level of professional safety and health is ready.
