00:03Cardi B is clarifying comments after receiving criticism for a Met Gala red carpet interview.

00:10As we all saw, Cardi shut down the Met carpet in a stunning, voluminous black gown designed

00:15by Sensen Lee on May 6th.

00:17When the rapper stopped briefly to chat with Vogue's Met correspondent Emma Chamberlain,

00:23this is what she had to say about her dress and the designer behind it.

00:34Vogue's former managing director Gilbert Chee criticized Cardi's interview in a social

00:39media comment, writing,

00:40"'For the record' and recognition and no thanks to Cardi B, the designer of her gown

00:46is Sensen Lee, who's Chinese.

00:48The gown took two months to make.

00:50I personally think it's boring and not even on theme, but she chose it and should have

00:55at least remembered his name and not just that he's Asian."

00:58Cardi responded in a since-expired social media video shared by TMZ.

01:03Per the outlet, the 31-year-old explained some last-minute changes on the red carpet

01:08had her frazzled.

01:09She reportedly says,

01:10"'So when I was being interviewed, I kind of forgot to pronounce the designer's name.'

01:15She adds,

01:16"'Like my mind was just racing.

01:17I said Asian designer because I knew that the designer was Asian, but I wasn't sure

01:21what nationality the designer was.

01:23I didn't want to get somebody's nationality mixed up.'"

01:27Cardi, addressing Gilbert Chee, reacts to his criticism, saying,

01:30"'I do feel like, as a person that works in fashion, I feel like the designer and my

01:34stylist, we worked really hard for this theme.

01:37So for you to be kind of shady because you try to offend me, but you actually offending

01:41the people that work behind the scenes.

01:44You're actually offending the people that spent hours and hours on phone calls, on Zooms

01:47and money on this design.'"

01:49E! News has reached out to Gilbert for comment and has not yet heard back.

01:53Despite Cardi's flub with the name, she did show love to the designer on her Instagram

01:57page after the gala, posting,

01:59"'I have to give another thank you to Windowsin.

02:01I chose you because of your amazing talent and you came through really making this Met

02:06Gala a night to remember.'"
