00:00By passing the Democrats' agenda and handcuffing Republicans' ability to influence legislation,
00:06our elected Republican Speaker, Mike Johnson, has aided and abetted the Democrats and the
00:11Biden administration in destroying our country. Whereas removing this uniparty speaker will not
00:19give the speaker's gavel to the Democrats, which would only happen if Republicans actually vote
00:26for Hakeem Jeffries. Johnson regularly chooses to ally himself with Democrats.
00:40Now, therefore be it resolved that the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives
00:46gentlemen will suspend. The house will be in order.
00:48Resolved that the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is hereby
00:58declared to be vacant. On this vote, the yeas are 359, the nays are 43, with 7 answering present.
01:06The motion is adopted. Without objection, the motion to reconsider is laid on the table.
01:11I want to say that I appreciate the show of confidence from my colleagues to defeat this
01:15misguided effort. That is certainly what it was. As I've said from the beginning,
01:19and I've made clear here every day, I intend to do my job. I intend to do
01:23what I believe to be the right thing, which is what I was elected to do.
01:27And I'll let the chips fall where they may. Hopefully, this is the end of the personality
01:31politics and the frivolous character assassination that has defined the 118th Congress. It's
01:37regrettable. It's not who we are as Americans. And we're better than this. We need to get beyond it.
01:42The Speaker of the House serves the whole House. That's the job. Everybody. But I am
01:48a lifelong movement conservative Republican, and I intend to continue to govern in accordance with
01:54those core principles. We need steady hands at the wheel. We need people who understand
01:58what made America the strongest, the most powerful, the most free, the most successful,
02:04the most benevolent nation in the history of the world. We have to fight for that every day,
02:08because we're in a battle between two competing visions for what America is and what it's going
02:12to be. And that's what I'm about every day here. And I'll continue that. We have important work,
02:18not only to keep the House majority, but to grow the majority, because that will be necessary to
02:22help save this country and the work that we have to elect a Republican president.
02:27We're on that as well. Our decision to stop Marjorie Taylor Greene from plunging the House
02:34of Representatives and the country into further chaos is rooted in our commitment
02:41to solve problems for everyday Americans in a bipartisan manner. We need more common sense
02:50and less chaos in Washington, D.C. Marjorie Taylor Greene and extreme MAGA Republicans
02:58are chaos agents. House Democrats are change agents. We will continue to govern
03:08in a reasonable, responsible, and results-oriented fashion and put people over politics all day
03:20and every day. The only thing we ask of our House Republican colleagues
03:24is for traditional Republicans to further isolate the extreme MAGA Republican wing of the GOP,
03:36which has visited nothing but chaos and dysfunction on the American people.
03:42We're just interested in making sure that the House of Representatives can continue
03:49to work in a bipartisan manner, isolate the performance artists, the pro-Putin wing of the
03:57Republican party, and the MAGA extremists, so we can get things done for the American people,
04:04for hardworking taxpayers, and for the constituents that we are all privileged to represent
04:14in the People's House.
