Ascension hospitals nationwide were hit by a cyber attack on May 8th that disrupted patient care. The attack impacted Ascension's technology network systems across 140 hospitals and senior living facilities in 19 states. Ascension promptly detected "unusual activity" and believes it was a cyber security event, engaging a third-party expert to investigate. Clinical operations were disrupted and Ascension is assessing the full impact and duration of the disruption. Ascension is working to determine if any sensitive patient information may have been affected.
