00:00 The White House brought on a new border person,
00:03 Blas Nunez-Meto.
00:06 What is it -- what is that -- is there any -- does that give any
00:09 indications of urgency, speed of the executive order that the
00:16 President has been considering?
00:17 So, look, we are -- we look forward to the DHS Assistant
00:22 Secretary joining the White House and continuing his work
00:26 in implementing the administration's vision across
00:28 the border security and immigration spaces.
00:30 Don't have anything new to read out on any new announcements.
00:33 But, look, this is an administration that is committed
00:36 to fixing the broken immigration system.
00:38 On the first day, on his first day of this administration,
00:41 the first piece of legislation that he put forward was one to
00:44 a comprehensive piece of legislation to deal with the
00:47 broken system, to deal with what we're seeing with -- at the
00:50 border, the challenges.
00:51 And then we moved forward when that legislation was not moving
00:55 forward in Congress.
00:56 We spoke to -- had a two-month negotiation process with
01:01 senators to come up with a bipartisan proposal.
01:04 And so that was rejected, as you all know,
01:06 by Republicans because of the former President stating that
01:09 this would hurt him and help Joe Biden.
01:12 And that is unfortunate.
01:13 We know that this is an issue.
01:15 When we talk about the immigration system,
01:17 that majority of Americans care about.
01:19 And so --
01:20 But what steps that he could take?
01:21 Look, we believe that the bipartisan border security
01:26 agreement that came out of the Senate that was rejected by
01:29 Republicans because of the former President is the best way
01:32 to move forward in a comprehensive way.
01:34 That's what we want to see.
01:36 And I've stated this many times before as it relates to any
01:39 other actions.
01:40 We're always going to look at other opportunities,
01:43 other actions.
01:44 We always will.
01:45 Don't have anything to speak to, to announce at this moment.
01:50 We actually want to see that bipartisan immigration agreement
01:55 move forward.
01:56 That's what we want to see.
01:57 That is going to be the most comprehensive way to deal with
01:59 a broken immigration system.
02:00 You've heard me say this.
02:01 If it is put into law, signed into law by this President,
02:04 it would be the toughest and the fairest piece of legislative
02:08 law that we have seen in some time.
02:10 This system has been broken.
02:11 The immigration system has been broken for decades.
02:14 For decades.
02:15 And it's time that we act.
02:17 And Republicans have an opportunity to do that.
02:19 They have an opportunity to do that.
