'It was traumatic': UK parents urge others to vaccinate their children amid rising measles cases

Global measles cases could double in a year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

00:00If you are protected, there are folks that can't be protected and you actually help them

00:17out by being vaccinated.

00:19So you know, very young children that aren't eligible yet are protected because their siblings

00:24and parents and grandparents and neighbours are protected.

00:36So the rash started on his torso and spread throughout his whole body and that's when we

00:42knew something was wrong and it was more than a cough and a cold. So we took him to A&E.

00:48He stayed there for six days while he contracted COVID and pneumonia.

00:53It was quite traumatic.

00:54I've been together and no one didn't pick anything up and it is a simple vaccination to get.

01:10We know that the 86% was not good enough globally to prevent large outbreaks in sort of 18 and 19

01:18and 83% is not going to be enough to actually stop large outbreaks this year or next year.

01:24And so we need to do extra.

01:26If you've missed a dose, you should get the dose.

01:28And so it could be you could be 20 years old or 30 years old or six years old.

01:34I think the point is that we really want to make sure that we're protecting everyone.
