00:03 Give me a team that we can watch out for and
00:05 where is that dress lock going to be here for JJ McCarthy?
00:09 >> Well, by all accounts, it looks like Minnesota,
00:11 which feels pretty plug and play at this point in time,
00:14 given the system that Kevin O'Connell is running.
00:16 And the type of quarterback that JJ McCarthy is, look, it's not flashy,
00:20 it's not sexy.
00:21 But what the guy is, is super accurate and delivers a ball on time on target to
00:24 a guy wearing the same color jersey.
00:26 And those are usually things that matter to coaches and
00:30 offensive coordinators in the NFL.
00:32 And again, I'm not going to be surprised if the Minnesota Vikings move up to
00:37 number three to take JJ McCarthy in that spot.
00:41 Philosophically, there is only one correct way to draft a quarterback.
00:47 You go up and get as high as possible to draft your guy as soon as possible.
00:52 There's no such thing as a draft philosophy that says, I hope a franchise
00:56 quarterback falls in my lap.
00:58 That's not the way it works, ever.
01:01 And it never will work that way anymore.
01:03 The days of Tom Brady in the sixth, seventh round, and
01:06 the days of Russell Wilson in the third round are gone.
01:09 The Brock Purdy thing, clearly an outlier.
01:12 If you want a quarterback nowadays, a franchise quarterback,
01:15 you go get them and you get them in the top ten.
01:18 I mean, really the last real instance you see of it was the Ravens drafting,
01:21 moving back into the first round to get Lamar Jackson.
01:24 And it's worked out well for them.
01:25 But again, their philosophy was we need to move up to get our quarterback.
01:28 You don't ever fall back to find a franchise quarterback.
01:31 That's a failing philosophy.
01:33 So that said, I'm not shy at all about JJ McCarthy going third.
01:38 Because why would the Minnesota Vikings, if that's the guy they want,
01:42 why would they sit there and let the Patriots make that pick?
01:45 Even if it is Jaden Daniels and Caleb Williams, or vice versa,
01:49 Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels going one, two,
01:51 you don't chance the fact that somebody else can move in there.
01:55 Because what if it's the Broncos who wanna jump in and go grab him at three?
01:59 You can't wait.
02:00 So as soon as the pick for Jaden Daniels is made, if that's the case, or
02:04 anybody other than JJ McCarthy at two, don't be surprised to see the Vikings
02:08 jump in with the Patriots at three, pull the trigger, and go get him there.
