Anne Hathaway Reveals Being Asked To Kiss 10 Men For Chemistry Check

The Idea Of You actor recalls an incident from the 2000's when she was asked to kiss 10 men for the on-screen chemistry check in order to get casted in the project.

00:08 "I was told, 'We have 10 guys coming today and you are cast.

00:12 Aren't you excited to make out with all of them?'

00:16 And I thought, 'Is there something wrong with me?'

00:19 Because I wasn't excited," Hathaway told V Magazine.

00:23 However, the actress didn't specify what project the audition was for.

00:27 "I thought it sounded gross.

00:29 It was elaborated, and I was so young and terribly aware how easy it was to lose everything

00:35 being labelled difficult.

00:37 So I just pretended I was excited and got on with it."

00:42 Anne mentioned this practice was considered normal during the early aughts.

00:46 "It wasn't a power play.

00:48 No one was trying to be awful or hurt me," she added.

00:51 "It was just a very different time, and now we know better."

00:55 Meanwhile, for a new movie, the idea of Hugh Hathaway played her part well as a producer

01:04 "We asked each of the actors coming in to choose a song that they felt their character

01:10 would love that they would put on to get my character to dance, and then we'd do a short

01:15 little improv," she revealed.

01:17 "I was sitting in a chair like we had come in from dinner or a walk or something.

01:22 We pressed play and we just started dancing together."
