Whistleblower Claims Manufacturing Changes Could Cause Boeing 787 Dreamliner to 'Break Apart'
A new Boeing whistleblower, former engineer Sam Salehpour, has submitted a complaint to the FAA alleging safety issues with the 787 Dreamliner jet. Salehpour claims manufacturing changes allowing sections of the jet's fuselage to fit together imperfectly could cause it to "break apart" after thousands of flights. The fuselage sections come from different manufacturers and may not fit together precisely as shapes vary, according to the whistleblower. Boeing acknowledges the manufacturing changes but denies any safety problems, saying it has done comprehensive work to ensure quality and long-term safety.
