A man who lost a staggering 24 stone has told how he now faces paying £40k to have his excess skin removed because the NHS won't fund the op.

Wayne Shepherd, 41, had gastric sleeve surgery which helped him shed 24 stone - dropping from his heaviest at 35 stone (226.8kg) to 11 stone today (72.4kg).

The operation involves removing 80 per cent of the stomach to restrict the amount of food you can eat in one sitting.

However, after the operation Wayne was told he did not qualify to have his excess skin removed on the NHS.

Now he faces paying out £40k to go a private provider for the body contouring procedure on his arms, legs and chest.
