A dolphin was rescued after it became stranded on a beach in India.

Video shows the dolphin rolling in the waves unable to swim away before wildlife officials came to its rescue.

The animal was spotted by bystanders who were cleaning the area on April 9.

They quickly called local forest department officials who came to release the animal from the beach in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in southern India.

After several attempts in which the rescue stalled, leaving the dolphin beached again, it eventually swam off safely.
