World Athletics announce prize money for Olympic medallists

World Athletics have announced that the Olympic Games will start to hand out prize money alongside medals.

00:16 So look, I see this sitting firmly behind the principle and philosophy that where possible,

00:21 the athletes have got to see a correlation between a sport that is financially growing

00:25 and their own financial health and vibrancy.

00:29 Of course, it's nice news for athletes, and it gives you more opportunity to continue training

00:36 and to find some place where you can train, so it's really nice.

00:41 I think it's good as a professional sport that athletics is growing more and more into,

00:45 that it's very good, so I want to salute them for it.

00:48 To me, it doesn't change my motivation to win, because for the Olympics I'm not in it for the money,

00:53 but when it comes to the sport, when it comes to building a professional sport,
