Kobbie Mainoo's Strike against Liverpool Draws Comparison to Historic Manchester United Goal

Manchester United fans have spotted an incredible similarity between Kobbie Mainoo's strike against Liverpool and a goal scored by the Red Devils in 2009.

With the scores level at 1-1 after goals from Luis Diaz and Bruno Fernandes, up stepped Mainoo.

The 18-year-old picked the ball up on the half-turn, before firing Man United into the lead at Old Trafford.

While fans took to social media to praise the youngster for his strike, they have also spotted a 'crazy parallel' with a goal that was scored at Old Trafford in 2009.

The similarities in the goals go beyond the action on the pitch, with supporters even spotting what was happening with the advertising boards in both goals.

Despite being dominated by the visitors, Mainoo gave Erik Ten Hag's side the lead with his fine strike in the second half.

As the goal went in, Man United fans took to social media to compare it to a previous goal scored.

'Who did it better? Federico Macheda? Or Mainoo?' asked one supporter.

The fan was referencing a goal scored by the Italian youngster back in 2009, where he received the ball from Ryan Giggs before pulling off an incredible turn in the box to fire into the top corner off-balance, sealing a dramatic 3-2 win for United against Aston Villa.

'Reminiscent of Macheda, just wild', said another fan.

However, it was not just the goal itself that reminded fans of that Macheda strike.

An eagle-eyed supporter picked up on the fact that the same advertisement was playing on the boards around Old Trafford, 15 years later.

The 'Betfred' ad with the same logo and color scheme was being shown around the pitch at the moment Mainoo scored his goal, the same advertisement during Macheda's strike.

'The Betfred ad is a crazy parallel,' said one fan.

While the action on the pitch reminded fans of the goal from 15 years ago, it's an incredible coincidence that the board was showing the same thing all these years later.
