"I deserve to be spoilt during pregnancy - I want a push present and spa membership"

A woman has revealed her non-negotiables for pregnancy – including monthly gifts, a spa membership and a push present - and says she "deserves to be spoilt".

Courtney Thornton, 30, wants to have her own children but says pregnancy is one of her “biggest fears in life”.

To help “alleviate” her anxiety, Courtney wants to be married before falling pregnant, have a present for each month she's expecting and have a spa membership.

Following the birth, she wants a doula and night nurse for guidance and so she can sleep.

Courtney also wants a housekeeper and private chef so she can maintain a clean home and healthy diet.

She also demands a push present – such as a Cartier bracelet or Chanel bag – and is only dating those in a six figure tax bracket.

Courtney, who works in marketing and runs her own events business, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, said: “Giving birth is really life-threatening.

“It can be life-changing.

“It’s one of my biggest fears in life.

“I deserve to be spoilt.

“To alleviate anxiety I need to be spoilt through the process.”

Before Courtney starts trying for a baby she wants to be married.

She said: “I think marriage is a sacred institution.

“We need to be on each other’s insurance – for legal reasons.”

Courtney also doesn’t want to work while she is pregnant but would want to go back to work three or four months postpartum.

She said: “I’ve never been pregnant. I don’t know what my symptoms would be but I won’t be working.”

Courtney wants to be brought a gift for each month she is pregnant.

She said: “I want each gift to progress in value.

“It might start off with a heated blanket, then a heater, a massage chair.

“The gift can match what I’m going through but also Cartier is nice.

“It’s something to look forward to.”

Courtney wants a spa membership during and after pregnancy and pre-natal yoga sessions.

She said: “I want to be able to go to the spa once a week.

“It’s good for a mum and dad. It would be a burden with massaging my feet all day.”

Courtney wants a babymoon “somewhere tropical” and a doula and night nurse on hand.

She said: “I want to give birth at hospital but I want a doula to help with anxiety.

“I want a night nurse because I want to sleep.”

A push present, therapy, housekeeper and chef are a must for Courtney after giving birth.

She said: “That’s a gift for me. I’d want a Cartier bracelet or a Chanel bag.

“I’m not going to have the energy to clean if my feet are swollen.

“I still want a clean house. That’s good for the whole family.

“I want a chef that can cook for me. We’re not going to have time to cook.”

Courtney says a 'mummy makeover' would be nice but isn’t a non-negotiable.

She shared her list online and got a mixture of comments.

She said: “I got a lot of comments from men who don’t think it’s fair.

“A lot of women were on my side.

“We deserve more.

“A lot said it was the bare minimum.”
