Pheasant Population in Taitung Wetlands Hits 5-Year Low

Taiwan’s ring-necked pheasants are known locally as the “pearl of the grassland.” A survey by conservationists in the Zhiben Wetlands in Taiwan’s southeast have now found there were 115 pheasants there this year, dropping by 80 since last year, and hitting a five-year low.
