The three-time world record holder clocked 47.33 seconds back in 2002 at the 31st installment of the games.

However, that was beaten by Bramwell at Kirani James Athletics Stadium in Grenada, as he stunned fans by recording a time of 47.26 seconds.

'It's a wonderful feeling to break the record,' said Bramwell.

He added: 'Since last summer, I have been eyeing the record, so it's a great feeling I could come out here and get it.

'I just took my mind off it and focused on the record.'
