Football fans have taken to social media to praise Antony's stunning assist for Alejandro Garnacho's second goal in Manchester United's 4-3 defeat to Chelsea.

United had gone behind within four minutes, with Chelsea racing to a 2-0 lead thanks to Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer, as the game looked to quickly be getting away from the visitors.

However, Erik ten Hag's side had Garnacho and captain Bruno Fernandes to thank after two goals made it 2-2 by half-time as the Red Devils fought back.

The Argentine youngster then gave his side the lead in the 67th minute with a close-range header over Djordje Petrovic, but it was all about the assist from Antony - although Palmer would strike twice in stoppage time to make it 4-3.

With the visitors looking to beat Chelsea on the break, the Brazil international broke free down the right, after usurping Marcus Rashford's spot in the side.

With Garnacho bursting into the middle Antony spotted the promising position and put in a cross with the outside of his left foot, arcing it beautifully behind the Chelsea defense and onto a plate for his team-mate.

Garnacho supplied the finishing touch, leaving TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher in raptures, noting: 'That's one of the passes of the season.'

His co-commentator Ally McCoist echoed the sentiment, replying: 'Without a doubt - different class.'

Antony has come in for criticism at times this season but was fully deserving of the praise that came his way, with supporters flocking to X, formerly Twitter, to shower him with acclaim.

One wrote: 'That Antony assist damn, I’m sorry for doubting you king.'

Another added: 'Garnacho header off the most sensational travel assist by, was that Antony? Have I been drinking?

A third claimed: 'WOW WOW WOW.. that assist by Antony was world-class'
