Swiss banking giant UBS announced a new share repurchase program of up to $2 billion. Up to $1 billion of the buyback is expected to take place in 2024 after the merger with Credit Suisse is completed by the end of the second quarter. UBS' ambition is for share repurchases to exceed pre-acquisition levels by 2026. The program follows the completion of UBS' 2022 buyback, which saw 298.5 million shares purchased worth $5.2 billion. UBS is undertaking the integration of Credit Suisse, which was announced in late 2023. UBS shares have risen over 6% so far in 2024.
