Kate Middleton reveals she has cancer

The Princess of Wales has revealed she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy in a video released by the royal family.

00:00 In January I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was

00:06 thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful

00:10 however tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team

00:17 therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy

00:20 and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment. This of course came as a huge

00:27 shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage

00:32 this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine this has taken

00:37 time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my

00:43 treatment but most importantly it has taken us time to explain everything to

00:48 George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that's appropriate for them and to

00:52 reassure them that I'm going to be okay.
