Former Trump Official Peter Navarro Begins Prison Sentence for Contempt of Congress, Becomes First Senior Trump Aide Jailed for Jan. 6th Crimes

Peter Navarro, a former Trump White House official, reported to prison in Miami on Tuesday to begin serving his sentence. Navarro was convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with the Jan. 6th committee investigation. He was sentenced to 4 months in prison, making him the first senior Trump aide jailed over Jan. 6th crimes. Navarro had argued Trump invoked executive privilege, but courts rejected this and found him in contempt. The Supreme Court declined to block his sentence, saying the appeal wasn't likely to overturn the conviction.
