Congress’ role is not to give aid to poor citizens  Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio 'Dong' Gonzales 3rd tells The Manila Times that the role of Congress is not to give "ayuda" or aid, but to look for funding for government agencies.   He issued the statement following criticisms from some quarters that Congress is just all about giving aid to poor citizens. 00:46 and of course, the criticism that the Speaker is always being protected,

00:52 The Speaker is being protected.

00:54 And of course, what the Speaker is doing is really just working, right?

01:05 That's why we are reciprocating what the Speaker is doing to our members of the House of Representatives.
