The Student Protest That Changed Taiwan’s Politics

Cross-strait relations experienced a shockwave 10 years ago when the Sunflower Movement saw students successfully block a trade bill that would have brought Taiwan and China’s economies closer when they staged a 23-day occupation of Taiwan’s legislature.

On this episode of Zoom In Zoom Out, TaiwanPlus reporter Rik Glauert sits down with Lin Fei-fan, one of the most prominent leaders of the movement. Lin later served as the deputy secretary general of the now ruling Democratic Progressive Party. We first zoom in on Lin's firsthand experience of the Sunflower Movement, then zoom out to understand what has changed in the decade since.
