00:07 but they are driven by courage, compassion and commitment,

00:12 qualities shared by my mother.

00:15 Their stories remind us of the importance of organisations like the Diana Award.

00:21 I've seen on many occasions over the years

00:23 how this charity empowers and mobilises young people

00:27 to take action and make the changes they want to see

00:31 in their communities and in the world around them.

00:34 This evening's Legacy Award is particularly special

00:37 as it marks the 25th anniversary year of the Diana Award,

00:41 a charity set up to reflect my mother's belief

00:44 that young people can change the world.

00:49 I know that she would have been honoured to see a charity in her name

00:52 doing such inspirational work

00:54 to uplift young people from all corners of the globe.

00:59 She taught me that everyone has the potential to give something back,

01:04 that everyone indeed deserves a supporting hand in life.

01:08 That legacy is something that both Catherine and I

01:11 sought to focus on through our work,

01:14 as have the 50,000 young people

01:16 who have received the Diana Award over the past 25 years.
