Brian Butler, a former Mar-a-Lago worker referred to as "Trump Employee 5", spoke exclusively to CNN about what he saw related to classified documents. Butler helped unwittingly move boxes onto Trump's private plane in June 2022 as Trump met with FBI agents about returning documents. Carlos De Oliveira, another defendant, tried to implicate Butler in moving boxes, saying, "We're all dirty." De Oliveira and others pressured Butler to hire a Trump-aligned lawyer after the FBI contacted him. Butler would now view Trump "unfavorably" and not think he should run for president again.
