Crowd marches for gender equality during Women's March 2024 in KL

Despite the gruelling weather, the Women’s March 2024 which marched for gender equality on a Saturday (March 9) morning at the Sogo shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur, went down well.  Along the way, the group chanted slogans calling for gender equality and ending gender-based violence.  The march was held in conjunction with International Women's Day. 00:23 laid out their goals for this year's march.

00:26 Six demands were laid out, including equal political participation for "all levels

00:31 of decision-making as well as gender-equal nationality laws."

00:36 The group also demanded the freedom of assembly and expression.

00:40 Songs and poem recitations were also performed, leading to loud cheers from the marches.

00:46 All the while, police maintained their distance while keeping a close watch on the group's

00:52 The crowd dispersed peacefully at around 12.50 p.m.
