Vinicius Jr scored what proved to be the decisive goal against RB Leipzig but the Brazilian was extremely lucky to still be on the pitch when he did so.

Vinicius was involved in an altercation with Leipzig's Willi Orban shortly after half-time as he took exception to his reaction to a heavy challenge.

The winger rounded up to Orban before shoving him in the throat with both hands.

Orban went down and it was a nervy moment for Madrid fans as the referee approached the Madrid man but he was only shown a yellow card.

The tension rose in the Bernabeu as play continued to be halted for a VAR review but the on-field decision was somewhat surprisingly upheld.

The Leipzig players were raging at the decision and they must have been even more furious after watching Vinicius double his side's lead in the last-16 tie with a brilliant finish.

The 23-year-old was slid in by Jude Bellingham on the break and found the top corner with a first-time strike from just inside the area.

Leipzig wasn't done yet and it was the man that Vinicius shoved who got them back into the game, Orban finding the net just three minutes later.

However, Los Blancos were able to see out the match and complete their passage to the last eight.
