Tesla Pay Package Case Lawyers Ask for Request $5.6 Billion in Company Stock for Legal Fees
  • 2 months ago
The lawyers who successfully argued Elon Musk's 2018 Tesla pay package was illegal and should be voided have asked the judge for legal fees. They are requesting $5.6 billion worth of Tesla stock as fees for their work on the case over 5 years on a contingency basis. If granted, it would be the largest legal fee award ever at over 11%, worth some $55 billion, of the value of the stock Musk originally sought in the pay package. The lawyers argue the amount is justified given they took no payment upfront and the benefit to Tesla shareholders was "massive" from voiding the package. They are also seeking $1.1 million in expenses from the case.
